Fair use rationale for Image:Wpme mntv logo 2.JPG

[edit]

Image:Wpme mntv logo 2.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Maine Visitors Channel

[edit]

Is this channel seen in motels or hotels in southern Maine? In some cities, the local cable system produces (or provides) a tourist channel for exclusive use by the cabler's hospitality clients. These channels are generally seen only in motels and hotels, broadcast on one frequency and reallocated to another channel at the hotel (usually over a public access or other non-vital channel). -- azumanga (talk) 00:05, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Maine Visitors Channel is a digital sub-channel of WPME-TV. It is broadcast by WPME-TV and available to anyone with an antenna and a digital TV (or converter box). Hotels/motels that elect to carry the channel use an outdoor antenna to receive the channel then inject the signal into their in-house system (which may or may not involve a cable company). The channel is not a Public Access Channel.

Also, on the right of the page in the box with the facts, it lists WPME's digital frequency as 28. That is not correct. 28 was the originally-assigned FCC frequency but we applied for and received a different frequency. As of October, 2008, our digital frequency has been 35 (the old analog frequency).

There is also a typo lower down in the same box. Under the City of License, the "E" in the word Maine is upper case.

WIPL (TV)WIPL – This television station has changed its callsign from WPME to WIPL, as of March 29. The airport that uses that WIPL code can be posted on a hatnote. Csworldwide1 (talk) 07:39, 12 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support: Per naming conventions, US broadcast station call signs are at the official call sign, which as the above link notes is now WIPL and not WPME. (I believe it is also more-or-less standard that a conflicting airport code redirect gives way to a hatnote in this situations.) --WCQuidditch 20:01, 12 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
