This virion article should surely just redirect to virus or Virus#Structure Rod57 (talk) 15:24, 7 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I think that the above suggestion ignores the fact that the virion exists outside of the host cell, whereas the same particle is called a virus during infection. This rather fine distinction stems from the fact that viral infections generally involve interactions between many virus particles, host cell machinery, and environmental factors, making the 'virus' technically a more complex and dynamic structure.
