Victoria County, Nova Scotia → Victoria, Nova Scotia – The name should reflect the single name like Halifax, Nova Scotia and Queens, Nova Scotia. User: Easternhfx 20:25, 16 May 2014 (UTC)
- Oppose. For starters, it's a county not a community. The name of the county is Victoria County, why would we change the name when it's correct to begin with. You're also missing the fact that there is already another community in Nova Scotia with the name Victoria. It appears to me that the editor is upset about the HRM article change so is trying to make a point by trying to change the name of other articles. Cmr08 (talk) 02:25, 17 May 2014 (UTC)
- 'Strongly Support' Its legaly called 'Municiplaity of Victoria'which in terms is no different than Halifax, Nova Scotia ,Queens,Nova Scotia,*Argyle, Nova Scotia,West Hants, Nova Scotia,St. Mary's, Nova Scotia,Guysborough, Nova Scotia,East Hants, Nova Scotiaand Clare, Nova Scotia all municipalities .Easternhfx (talk) 14:23, 17 May 2014 (UTC)
- For the article title, Wikipedia uses the name that is commonly used, not the legal or official name. Unlike the Halifax article, the common name is Victoria County, and has been since 1879. We're not dealing with some newly merged municipality here. As pointed out above, this editor is upset over a change that was made to another article title and is just going around proposing all these other name changes to make a point. - Oppose Established conventions for counties in North America do not see them stripped of the "County" part of their names; Whatcom County, Washington should not become Whatcom, Washington, for example. And Peterborough County, Ontario is not the same as Peterborough, Ontario. This series of related county-renames are all based on the same false premise, that the regional municipality equation re Halifax should be done across the board; not workable and not within guidelines or established practices.Skookum1 (talk) 06:07, 18 May 2014 (UTC)
- Oppose per Cmr08 and Skookum1. -DJSasso (talk) 03:03, 20 May 2014 (UTC)
