Orphan Tag

[edit]

Hi just wanted to flag that I removed the orphan tag because I created a link from https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/List_of_Indigenous_musicians_in_Canada - please let me know if I've done this the wrong way. UTSC Library DSU (talk) 22:51, 6 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Notability

[edit]

I am an Assistant Professor of Music and Culture at the University of Toronto Scarborough in the Department of Arts, Culture and Media. Veronica Johnny is a notable figure in the Canadian music industry, specifically in Indigenous rock music, and has had several charting singles. Her music has been nominated for several awards. She is included in the forthcoming Scarborough Music Archive at the University of Toronto Scarborough (the archive is not yet public, launch planned for 2025). I understand that Wikipedia requires independent secondary sources for biographies. In this case, and in addition to the text sources already linked in the article, I suggest that charts, award nominations, and inclusion in a university archive should also count as independent secondary sources. It should also be noted that both Indigenous musicians and women musicians are underrepresented in the media and in scholarship. -- Laura Risk 142.170.37.142 (talk) 16:05, 11 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I work at the University of Toronto Scarborough and support this assertion as well. If there is no further discussion of this, I hope it will be okay for me to remove the Notability warning in the new year. UTSC Library DSU (talk) 14:18, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
