Two funiculars and a rack railway

[edit]

This article contains the following uncited statement:

The VBZ operates trams, trolleybuses, buses, two funiculars and a rack railway.

No argument about trams, trolleybuses or buses. Nor about the Seilbahn Rigiblick, which is one of two funiculars in Zurich. But I'm concerned about the second funicular and the rack railway, which by a process of elimination I think must be references to the Polybahn and the Dolderbahn.

Our own article on the Zürcher Verkehrsverbund (ZVV) shows the VBZ, the Polybahn and the Dolderbahn as three separate operators within the ZVV tariff. And this is backed up by the ZVV's own web site. If that is the case, it would seem to contradict the above statement.

Also, and admittedly somewhat circumstantial, but the VBZ is pretty rigorous in painting all its assets blue and white. Last time I looked, the Polybahn and the Dolderbahn both used (different shades of) red.

I've therefore added cite needed for that statement. -- chris_j_wood (talk) 11:57, 15 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I've found [1] on the VBZ's web cite, which lists statistics on their lines. It shows only one funicular (Rigiblick) and no rack railways. I think that is pretty definitive, so I've corrected the article and cited the source. -- chris_j_wood (talk) 12:19, 15 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
