[edit]Newer editors to this page frequently alter it and wipe references- especially around union election time vast amounts of vandalism to this occur, usually wiping references pointing to affiliations. As far as I can tell (and almost all the editors before the recent wipe) it's not seriously contested that these groups are apolitical and there is a huge body of evidence to point to which group is affiliated with which party, and such changes lack references. Any ideas of what to do to reach some kind of consensus as to what should be done to either preserve this from being edited over and over by groups with a specific and damaging agenda,? This Article is massively biased and has basically zero references. This sort of biased politicking is not what wiki is for, — Preceding unsigned comment added by 210.15.213.194 (talk) 06:53, 2 August 2012 (UTC)
2012 Student Election
[edit]This has become a Very contestable issue. If anyone has anything of note to add to the article regarding this, including any criticism around the election and events leading up to it, please place it in the relevant section, and ensure Citation. Vandalism - By either side (Including edits to remove relevant information or add anything that could be deemed defamatory) will be removed by someone. The number of edits this page is recieving will more than likely draw the attention of those wiki contributors who know what they're doing, so all that you're doing is showing what you're trying to hide/inflame in the history. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wasusa (talk • contribs) 04:38, 21 August 2012 (UTC)
The page should perhaps be locked until after the dust settles and it becomes clear what has actually occurred - wikipedia shouldn't be acting as a news source for these sorts of events.--130.102.158.16 (talk) 00:23, 22 August 2012 (UTC)
when I was at UQ, fresh got into power by giving out food vouchers if people promised to vote for Fresh. The food vouchers were actually for everyone, but the Fresh campaigners said it was for fresh voters. They and their friend also created a fake 'Greens' party and advertised themselves as the greens to try and take votes from their main opponents. When they got into power, they then made every union board meeting secret so noone knew what they were up to. Why? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 175.28.53.145 (talk) 11:33, 22 August 2012 (UTC)

Bias
[edit]Is there a way to write the political section in a way that is balanced? This part has clearly been written by a member of the 'FRESH' party. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.102.158.16 (talk) 06:56, 2 August 2012 (UTC)
for dear FRESH members

Can we please just have this argument in the Talk section instead of editing the page so much?
[edit]Look, from where I'm standing LL messed up their nominations, and LR and the Libs created a new party with indies and Greens. Making edits from an IP and saying you're "clarifying wording" and "fixing grammar" while editing the page for political reasons is just dishonest. Please just talk here, and let's come to a wording that we can agree on. Asteroixiii (talk) 11:54, 29 October 2018 (UTC)

University of Queensland Union → UQ Union – UQ Union is the WP:COMMONNAME (WP:NCCORP) of the Union, and is what it is referred to as by bothUQ, and the Union itself. ItsPugle (talk) 04:07, 12 June 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose we usually avoid acronyms in titles, as they are often ambiguous. buidhe 23:22, 20 June 2020 (UTC)
- Since UQ redirects to University of Queensland, surely UQ Union could be allowed? Also, is there a policy for this? (btw, thank you for all the relisting and maintenance of RMs that you do!) ItsPugle (talk) 02:48, 21 June 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose. I know what UQ Union is... I've eaten there! But I doubt anyone who hasn't had some contact with Australian tertiary education would, so it fails the test of being recognisable. Andrewa (talk) 10:35, 23 June 2020 (UTC)
