[edit]I'm not sure under what type of university UNNC belongs to. Is it public? From my understanding (which may very well be wrong) that seems the best fit. Maybe someone who understands the organisational matters of the establishment more will be able to affirm/correct what I've put down. —Liyang (talk) 01:32, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
UK University don't have this distinction. It's technically just a campus of the University of Nottingham. Soooooo, it's actually a British/UK university. 80.6.123.52 (talk) 20:30, 30 May 2009 (UTC)
Well acc to the Bureau of Education in China, the legal body of a higher education should at least have one qualified domestic partner if it is orginally started by foreigners. And i wasn't quite understand what you mean by public/private. And, yes, technically it is just a campus of University of Nottingham. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Zehai.peng (talk • contribs) 15:53, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
Deleted the section of study programme added by few years ago, coz it is no longer updated and no explicit need to keep this section anymore. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Zehai.peng (talk • contribs) 16:00, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
Advert?
[edit]The article needs a dose of tough editing to get rid of bias, e.g. "Our goals are..." Smallbones (talk) 08:41, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
i will not add pinyin reading to Chinese symbols on this page
because when i do i'm blamed in vandalizing the article http://en.wiktionary.org/w/index.php?title=Appendix:HSK_list_of_Mandarin_words/Beginning_Mandarin&action=history —Preceding unsigned comment added by 114.233.129.146 (talk) 09:13, 7 June 2010 (UTC)
The link to Agora is definitely wrong, but there does not seem to be an appropriate article. Also, the reference link is dead. --Oop (talk) 08:08, 11 October 2012 (UTC)
The university keeps editing this page to make it promotional. Is there anyway to stop this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:D08:D4:AAEA:29D9:C482:9655:91B3 (talk) 07:01, 14 November 2021 (UTC)
Editing Wars
[edit]The university keeps editing this page to remove content that is unfavourable. Wikipedia is not an advertising platform and this is inappropriate. To whom can I complain? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 211.24.52.146 (talk) 05:07, 15 January 2022 (UTC)
- IP editor, I am not connected to the university. Wikipedia has a Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons policy, which states "Contentious material about living persons (or, in some cases, recently deceased) that is unsourced or poorly sourced—whether the material is negative, positive, neutral, or just questionable—should be removed immediately and without waiting for discussion." Please include references when adding contentious material.
- There is general advice on reporting COI editors at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to handle conflicts of interest. TSventon (talk) 11:24, 15 January 2022 (UTC)
Hi TSventon, the first point in my additional section states that the university is not a branch campus of the University of Nottingham, merely a Chinese campus. Evidence is found in the investigation conducted into the university by the Office of the Independent Adjudicator for Higher Education (OIAHE). The university has been publicly rebuked for misleading students on this topic, which was published in the Times Higher Education Supplement [1].
Hence, the final bulletpoint of the Incidents and Controversy section can be referenced. The OIAHE investigated the university because of this and I can send you the entire 16 page report. Please tell me how to do this.
Therefore, it is not correct for the university to delete this section. They are aware that they were investigated, that the Chinese campus was responsible for driving the student to a suicidal state of mind and the the OIAHE concluded that the UK campus was partially responsible. I have all the necessary documents to prove this, but I am not sure if wikipedia wants me to upload them. Please tell me what to do? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 211.24.52.146 (talk) 01:46, 19 January 2022 (UTC)
References
- IP editor, I can't speak for other editors, but I deleted the whole section because it was unreferenced. WP:RS says "Wikipedia articles should be based on reliable, published sources, making sure that all majority and significant minority views that have appeared in those sources are covered". Secondary sources such as THES are preferred and a primary source such as an OIAHE report can be used with caution, so you could add a paragraph referenced to those sources. Sources don't have to be on line and Wikipedia should not link to copyright material uploaded without permission. References could use Template:Cite news and Template:Cite report. Unfortunately I can't see either source, so I don't know exactly what the report said.
