According to the current cited reference this structure's "Period of Significance" was 1875—1899.[1] Acording to a railfan site the station was built by the B&A in 1887.[2] According to another railfan site (that cites the previous, although it is worded differently) the station "is 100 years old in 1987".[3] The town of Chatham has a history page that includes this image which shows the station building during a snowstorm in 1888. According to the the wikipedia article on the Boston and Albany Railroad the B&A hired Henry Hobson Richardson in 1881 to build stations which he did for five years. Richardson died on April 27, 1886. The B&A then hired Shepley, Rutan and Coolidge "to design twenty-three additional stations between 1886 and 1894." Hence I think this article should say that the station was built in 1887. I think in 1900 or 1901 it and the B&A was leased by the New York Central, but that date was not significant in the construction of the station (the Chatham Station was already 13 or 14 years old at the time of the lease-takeover of the B&A by the NYCRR). 69.126.126.70 (talk) 03:46, 7 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
