[edit]Edit conflict. May as well post my comments. --Usernameunique (talk) 04:57, 28 April 2020 (UTC)
- Alright, I think you have it from here. Nova Crystallis (Talk) 04:59, 28 April 2020 (UTC)
- Works for me, Nova Crystallis. Sorry for the confusion. (Edit: Just got a laugh out of your edit summary). --Usernameunique (talk) 05:39, 28 April 2020 (UTC)
Lead
known in the Philippines as Typhoon Etang
— This only appears in the lead.- I don't really see how it fits anywhere else in this instance. This isn't atypical for these sort of articles either. YE Pacific Hurricane 05:19, 28 April 2020 (UTC)
- Perhaps "During its formative stages, the depression left two people reported as missing and injured three people across the Philippines," where it was known as Typhoon Etang." Also, any information on how it acquired that name? If so, you could add that part to "Meteorological history". --Usernameunique (talk) 05:42, 28 April 2020 (UTC)
- That just seems kinda random to me. It's not something I normally have done in the past. When there's more info about the name (which from 1963 to 1968 there is) and when it acquired such name, I usually squeeze a sentence in the MH but that's not applicable here, hence the sole omission. - There's some inconsistency here (and elsewhere in the article) over whether you spell out numbers (e.g., 5 vs. five). Generally I spell out 1–12 and use numbers for the rest; but however you do it, it should be consistent.
- I spell it out if it's less than 10 unless there's a couple other circumstances in play. If "X did Y and did Z" is a sentence, and X and Y are greater than 10, and Z is less than 10, I stick to numbers. If "X did Y", and X is less than 10 but Y isn't, I write out both. YE Pacific Hurricane 05:19, 28 April 2020 (UTC)
- That's way too complicated for my brain right now. I'll trust that however that system works, you're sticking too it. --Usernameunique (talk) 05:43, 28 April 2020 (UTC)

Offshore Fangcheng,
— Links to disambiguation page.- Does Hong Kong deserve mention in the lead?
- Not really IMO. YE Pacific Hurricane 05:19, 28 April 2020 (UTC)
Meteorological history
- Anything to link "convection" to?
- Yes, forgot this. YE Pacific Hurricane 05:19, 28 April 2020 (UTC)
- [nb 2] — Maybe I'm missing something, but why are wind estimates relevant here? And what does it mean for an estimate to be "sustained"? For 10 minutes straight, their estimates continuously said that the wind was at or above a certain speed?
- Technically you are right the note is in the wrong place so I moved it accordingly. Sustained winds is the average wind of a given period. Maximum sustained wind is linked in the relevant note. YE Pacific Hurricane 05:19, 28 April 2020 (UTC)
10‑minute winds are about 1.14 times the amount of 1‑minute winds
— What does this mean?- Exactly what it says. 10 mins*~1.14=1 mins. YE Pacific Hurricane 05:19, 28 April 2020 (UTC)
- The amount of what? Energy? Speed? --Usernameunique (talk) 05:46, 28 April 2020 (UTC)
- I'd assume "winds" would be pretty obvious but I'll change it to wind speed. YE Pacific Hurricane 05:52, 28 April 2020 (UTC)

Synoptic reports
— Is there a link that can explain whatever "synoptic" means?- I can just axe that word altogether. YE Pacific Hurricane 05:19, 28 April 2020 (UTC)
Zeke reverted to a largely westward track
— Other than the first sentence, this is the first introduction of the name "Zeke." Is this the point at which the storm was given a name?- Added. YE Pacific Hurricane 05:19, 28 April 2020 (UTC)
- Did the JTWC also name it Zeke? --Usernameunique (talk) 05:46, 28 April 2020 (UTC)
- The JTWC controlled naming up until 2000, so yes but that's beyond the scope of this article. YE Pacific Hurricane 05:52, 28 April 2020 (UTC)
- Did the JTWC also name it Zeke? --Usernameunique (talk) 05:46, 28 April 2020 (UTC)

Shortly before striking Hainan, the JTWC
— The JTWC struck Hainan?
Impact
- The first sentence is a bit of a mess. Why were the people reported as missing? And what's going on with
and injured three people across the Philippines and resulted in three injuries.
?- Fixed the last bit but all I know is 2 people were missing and 3 people were hurt. YE Pacific Hurricane 05:19, 28 April 2020 (UTC)
Hainan, the most southern province in China
— If anywhere, Hainan should be described in "Meteorological history", where it is first mentioned.- You technically have a point, but given that this actually goes in depth about what happened there, it's arguably more important here. YE Pacific Hurricane 05:19, 28 April 2020 (UTC)
30 people were killed there and 77 others were injured
— By collapsing houses?- The collapsing houses bit isn't even mentioned till later so no. What do you want me to do with this given the figures aren't linked? YE Pacific Hurricane 05:19, 28 April 2020 (UTC)
Close to 3,700 houses collapsed, and 58,103 others were damaged
— Seems a bit suspect that there's a super-precise larger number, but an approximate smaller number.- Agreed but there's nothing I can do about it I don't think unless you want to remove one or the other. YE Pacific Hurricane 05:19, 28 April 2020 (UTC)
Offshore Fangcheng,
— Links to a disambiguation page.- Fixed here as well. YE Pacific Hurricane 05:19, 28 April 2020 (UTC)
nineteen survived after a Vietnamese cargo vessel sank.
— Any more details?
References'
- 11–16 should really include links if at all possible, even if the links take one to a login screen; after all, Lexis is among the databases that people are more likely to have access to. Also, are 11–16 citing newspapers that wire stories appeared in, or the actual wire stories (as originally sent to the newspapers)? I've never seen the latter before, but suppose it's possible. --Usernameunique (talk) 06:33, 28 April 2020 (UTC)
- The latter, hence only the use of the |agency= field. As for the urls, you'd get a log in screen if I linked them, but if you logged in, it won't take you to the article directly (I tested this out myself just to be sure I'm correct here). So urls are basically useless. YE Pacific Hurricane 06:40, 28 April 2020 (UTC)
Overall
- Yellow Evan, a few replies above. --Usernameunique (talk) 05:47, 28 April 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks for the review. YE Pacific Hurricane 05:52, 28 April 2020 (UTC)
- Looks like you may have missed my follow-up comment re: Etang. --Usernameunique (talk) 06:02, 28 April 2020 (UTC)
- Yellow Evan, actually added one point above regarding references. Fair warning, the same point will apply across all three articles. --Usernameunique (talk) 06:33, 28 April 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks, Yellow Evan. Passing now. --Usernameunique (talk) 04:07, 29 April 2020 (UTC)
