More intro and impact. Jdorje 19:39, 11 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I added more impact and included inline references. I believe that this is no longer a stub now.
For a storm in 1991, it's still way too little information. It needs at least a few sentences (referenced) on preparations and aftermath. Cyclonebiskit 21:30, 8 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I added what was in the TCR on preparations. Miss Madeline | Talk to Madeline 23:13, 8 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Add in infomation from the JMA's best track - and do a search around some of the NMHSS as they will have decent reports from 1991. For example heres the HKO one from 1991.
Just makes start class now. Cyclonebiskit 15:16, 22 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Hurricanehink! I see that this article has been sitting here on the GAN list for almost 3 months now. So I'm going to be the person reviewing it.--12george1 (talk) 20:15, 20 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • "Typhoon Mireille ,known in the Philippines as Typhoon Oniang" - Move that comma
  • "The typhoon first threatened Guam, although" - No love (wikilink) for Guam? :P
  • "A South Korean freighter rode out the storm at the port in Hakata Bay.[11] It breached along the breakwater, causing it to sink,[12] killing all 10 crew members.[1] The Japan Coast Guard launched a search and rescue mission for two days.[11]" - Why is this part not with the stuff for Japan?
  • Why is reference #1 titled "1992 Annual Tropical Cyclone Report" instead of "1991 Annual Tropical Cyclone Report"?

That's it--12george1 (talk) 20:15, 20 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I believe I took care of all of this. I left the SK freighter bit where it is because there is so much Japan info, and so little elsewhere. Hurricanehink mobile (talk) 15:50, 21 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

A-class?

For some reason, apparently this has been nominated for A-class! As such, I'm opening this ACR. SMB99thx my edits! 05:36, 7 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion

I was wondering what, if anything, is needed for this to be A-class? ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 16:47, 19 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Anyone watching this? Hurricanehink mobile (talk) 22:03, 29 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I stumbled upon this looking at how you used DT for post-1990 Japanese storms for my sandbox; Two year late reply, but I made a few slight tweaks to the impact; otherwise, it IMO is good to go for A class. YE Pacific Hurricane 08:22, 26 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
This is missing stuff from Japanese newspapers on LexisNexis, which tbf requires one to be very shrewd with searching so I don’t blame you much. No A class until then though. YE Pacific Hurricane 14:22, 2 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Any chance you could email them to me?! I want to do a retired typhoon GT. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 03:24, 3 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe I could add them myself and we can do an FAC together? YE Pacific Hurricane 02:13, 4 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Absolutely! I'm always up for collabs, especially if it means I don't have to do too much more. :P ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 14:24, 4 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I'll add this to my todo list and I'll ping you when I add such. YE Pacific Hurricane 20:17, 4 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Oh how I like a little bit of revenge...
  • Is there anything that could be added from Jack Bevan?
  • Is there anything that could be added from RSMC Darwin Tropical Diagnostic Statements?
  • Is there anything that could be added from NCDC (Storm Events)?
  • Have you looked at full-blown copies of the Mariners Weather Logs that you cite?
  • The Mariner Weather Logs are available online via the Hathi Trust and should be linked to via the hdl feature.
  • Taiwan Impact via the CWB?
  • Phillippines Impact?

That's a lot. I'll do, when I have time to do so. MarioJump83! 05:32, 7 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I'm going to stream this on Discord when I am back. MarioJump83! 23:06, 6 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I might do this if I would, but unfortunately there will be no time to take and develop the article into A-class. MarioJump83 (talk) 00:07, 18 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Costliest typhoon?

[edit]

There is no point in emphasizing that Hagibis has the largest absolute economic loss figure. Firstly you really needn't wait until Hagbis to find a typhoon that resulted in more damage in dollars than Mireille--Fitow of 2013 could well have surpassed that, and 2018's Jebi definitely did. And Wikipedia's convention on such issue is measuring the loss in an inflation-adjusted fashion, as is always shown in the table below. 160.16.143.73 (talk) 13:58, 17 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
