I was a bit surprised there was no page for Tundra Semiconductor. I've decided to take on the task and build it up from scratch. Please bear with me while I figure out some of the techniques for using Wikipedia. Also Please post any question or comments here before an major edits - all grammatical/spelling help is appreciated! I will be placing citations in the article once I figure out how. One of my major problems is that The majority of my sources are from archives i have access to. but they are not publicly available. Anythoughts? --Smartbettor 19:26, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Been side tracked by the Canadian Long weekend. I will do a major revamp of the article mid week or so.Smartbettor 15:01, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What's this article about? Calmos, Newbrige or Tundra?

[edit]

19/20 of this article doesn't seem to have much to do about Tundra Semiconductor. Why spend so much attention describing what two other companies are about, and almost nothing about the main topic of the article? Before I added my stuff about PowerPC and Power.org, there was exactly two sentences that had anything directly to do with Tundra Semiconductor, and the other 5K worth of text is about something else.. Related perhaps, but still. It's like writing an essay about the USA beginning with "It's a country on the North American continent" and then spend the remainding essay writing about colonial Brittain. I don't know much about Tundra Semiconductor, and after reading this article I really don't know more than I did before. I do however know a great deal about Newbridge and Calmos, but that's beside the point. Why not write about them in Calmos and Newbridge Microsystems?

On top of that.. My additions, that was very much on topic describing a bit about the dealings of Tundra nowdays, was deleted without any explanation, just leaving the initial two sentences with directly relevant information. What was up with that? -- Henriok 20:54, 21 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've been adding to the *history* section of Tundra - not the recent operating, and technical info section (which I planned on adding later.) The reason I got rid of your info is that you've been dropping your information on Tundra in the historical section of the article. Take a look at the contents section marker to know where the information should be placed. If you're looking at placing information into the article and can't see an appropriate section - create a section - thats why its wikipedia. I'm moving through my information chronologically and plan on adding an appropriate here and now section at the beginning when I get there. You could save me the trouble by creating a section for it. Don't get annoyed because there's info and you're placing it in the wrong sections. That said I should have stated the reason i deleted in the change or created the section for you and moved it there.

Part of the goal with this particular article is to see if we can create a truly high class article, with verifiable background and appropriate current information for an Ottawa High-Tech Company - most of them (if not all) are pretty awfully done. Which is outside the norm for Non-Hightech Ottawa articles.

Lastly, one of the reasons I decided not to include the articles separately is that quite honestly its the same company all the way through. Just with a different name - the principals are the same (CEO, Products, line engineers, office location, etc) the only change was the name in 1995. The fact that I've included their historical names is just to make sense in the historical section. There have been several thirdparty edits to clean up the grammatical and spelling errors - so I believe that most people find the info appropriate and or interesting. I see this article progressing quite fast! My critique was perhaps premature. I'm sorry! -- Henriok 09:05, 22 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Alot of the info I've had sitting on my desktop waiting to go - Its just getting motivated! I should have everything up until 2002 up by Sunday. Then it'll get more complicated adding in their more recent stuff. I plan on ending the 'history' section when Chowaniec becomes Chairman (leaves CEO position.) From there I plan on splitting into the more recent purchases/R&D and management changes. If the feedback on this article is reasonable I'll probably go and tackle March Networks or one of the other affiliates/Terry companies. I chose this one as its the smallest and is easiest to verify. Any thoughts or criticisms on how it should proceed would be appreciated! Smartbettor 21:29, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
