What does it all mean?
[edit]The lead tells me that "...a tropical monsoon climate's driest month sees less than 60 mm of precipitation but more than (100 − [total annual precipitation {mm}/25])"
I'm reasonably literate on meteorological matters, but this one is beyond me. Maybe the real experts can understand it, but I like the idea of an article's lead giving a relatively plain English idea of what the article is about, with more technical material later if needed.
Even if others think this material is OK in the lead, can someone please translate it into plain English here? I'd love to know what it all means.

- The plain English version in the article, that "a tropical monsoon climate typically features less pronounced dry seasons than a tropical savanna climate" is only half the story given by the equation. My thought was, in the case of Mangalore, how can zero precipitation constitute a "less pronounced" dry season? But by the mathematical definition given, if the overall climate is wet enough (total annual precipitation if greater than 2500mm), the climate counts as monsoon, even if the driest month is complete drought. So tropical savannah is less than 2500mm of precipitation annually and a very pronounced dry season. I agree that the mathematical definition should ideally be in a "Definition" section, or a footnote, but the article as is stands is just a bare start. William Avery (talk) 10:55, 30 April 2010 (UTC)
does a tropical monsoon climate support an environment which a tropical rainforest can thrive? i look at vegetation maps and compare them to climate classification
maps and places that are "Am" have tropical rainforests

Edit glitch
[edit]I think my edit took place along side another edit, all I meant to do was add the Fahrenheit to the Celsius figure given in the intro. B137 (talk) 05:28, 15 February 2018 (UTC)

External link in body?
[edit]The article body has a link, in direct contradiction to WP:ELPOINTS. Thus, I removed it. Any issues? Opal|zukor(discuss) 16:29, 7 December 2020 (UTC)
