I added Jay, updated the "about" statement to be less marketing more fact and within this provided links to the various schools at the University.

Anyone agree that "Current Events" is a poor choice of subject matter? Particularly since it has not been updated in four years.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that Albert Einstein was not really an alumnus (not to mention long deceased in 1984):

Motto

An IP editor has changed the motto to "Power to Do - PU", claiming it's on the university's web site, and asks in the edit summary how to add the source. To that editor: I can't find the wording you used on the university's site. What I see is "Powered to do"—and I have changed the infobox to reflect that, although I'm not sure it qualifies as an official motto (it may simply be part of a logo). Please provide a link to the page that supports your claim. If you add the url here, I'll be happy to make the correction and add a proper citation to the article. Incorrect information being added continually

  • I feel the need to point out that this article has problems beyond the vandalism/edit warring between IP editors. Firstly, it strongly appears that at one of the IPs (I think it is the above one) suffers from a WP:COI, although I'm not necessarily suggesting that this has caused them to do anything more than the edit warring. Secondly, the article is both overtly promotional and poorly formatted. Thirdly, the article is seriously lacking in in-line references to any kind of source. I'm going to try and clean this up to the best of my ability, but please note that I'm not American, so I may need help (and blindly reverting my work isn't the kind of help that would benefit me!) Listing of the presidents is not complete

Bertrand Hayward is not included in the list of presidents of the university. I know he was president in 1961 when I started there and for years after that. I know his son Andrew was a student there. Per the link added by Rivertorch, two other university presidents can be included in the list: Lawson A. Pendleton from 1973-1977, and Donald B. Partridge from 1977-1984. I appear to be unable to make an edit (or, at a minimum, it has been so long that I have forgotten how to edit a semi-protected page), but anyone who has the opportunity may wish to incorporate those names while next working on it. Merge with Thomas Jefferson University?

As of 1 July 2017, Philadelphia University is no more. It is now merged with Thomas Jefferson University.[1] Should the two pages merge or should this page be referred to in the past tense? (Such as: Philadelphia University *was* a university in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.) Thoughts?

Article title?

I recently moved this article and merged in information from the two institutions that merged to form this new institution. However, it's not entirely clear what the best title for this article is. To the best of my knowledge, the current title of "Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University)" is the institution's current, official title (e.g., IPEDS entry). However, it's not clear to me if (a) it's the best title for this article or (b) it's a long-term or long-standing title for this institution or merely one that is being temporarily used as the institution is still transitioning to a new identity. Personally I don't think we should be creating articles about new universities which have no reliable secondary coverage about them. If there was any relaible secondary coverage about the merger, maybe we would than have a common name. The one news article about the merger gives a completely different name. The "Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University)" just seems to be the new university desparately trying to explain who they are/were. Sionk (talk) 16:56, 21 December 2018 (UTC)
I disagree, at least in this specific instance. This isn't a "new" university in the sense that it's a brand new entity with little or no history, resources, and pedigree. It's only new in the sense that it's the result of a merger between two existing institutions each with long histories and substantial resources. There are many reliable secondary sources that cover this institution and its predecessor institutions so notability isn't a question. The only question I have is the title of the article; it seems like the title of the institution is in flux so it's difficult to figure out what the WP:COMMONNAME is right now. I expect that this will last a year or two as everyone figures out what they want to call this university and what the university wants to be called. It's fine the way it is now; it's just a bit clunky. ElKevbo (talk) 17:52, 21 December 2018 (UTC)

Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) → Thomas Jefferson University – While the official name for the university is "Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University)", the WP:COMMONNAME is "Thomas Jefferson University" (as used at the official university website, US News, etc.) There's precedent for this; we don't title Stanford University as "Leland Stanford Junior University" even though that's its full name. Conifer (talk) 01:52, 13 March 2019 (UTC) --Relisting. SITH (talk) 16:49, 23 March 2019 (UTC)

Feel free to undo or overwrite my move/edit(s) - no worries! My understanding of the situation is that the institution has taken a while to figure out what they want to be named and they're going through a lot of very awkward public moves while they figure that out including the current naming convention. Ophthalmology

I don’t know how to make revisions to an article, but I want to point out that the ophthalmology program at this university is ranked in the top five, or higher, in the country. I know that because my nephew did his residency there. Somebody should check this out, because it’s ranking is much higher than those of the other programs that are listed here. It’s called Wills Eye Hospital of Thomas Jefferson University.

I just noticed that there is a separate Wikipedia article about Wills, which says it is ranked third in the country for ophthalmology, so maybe that’s sufficient, but, on the other hand, it’s a program that I think should be mentioned here, if so many other specialities TJU are ranked not nearly as highly. 63.155.122.95 (talk) 01:33, 31 May 2022 (UTC)

Thomas Jefferson University and Philadelphia University page merger

I am reaching out about the move thread in the talk section of this page: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Talk:Thomas_Jefferson_University . This page was merged by User:ElKevbo incorrectly and the information that was kept was incomplete for the combined university. The two universities were merged, however the one location (old philadelphia university) was not closed but is not the East Falls campus of thomas jefferson university. I noticed that you were the closer on the move and this page suggested that I start with the closer of the move request: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:Move_review . I am unsure of the correct process (so please excuse my ignorance) but wondering if you could help me undo the move and restore the old pages, so we can make edits to them with the correct information.
