Maybe we should merge the original deleted one with this current article

Really Good!

Kudos to the guy who put up the picture of the filming model. That is really sweet! Perhaps we could have thumbnails of all of the main characters (Theodore, Foduck, Emily, etc) and a few minor ones (such as Digby and Carla).

Who has the broadcast/distribution rights?

Can someone please find out what company retains the rights to broadcast or distribute Theodore Tugboat? The original production company, Cochran Entertainment, is defunct. I'd like to be able to add the new owner's info to the site. Mordicus Egg 14:58, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

Bottom navbox

How come theres a navbox for Thomas the Tank Engine on the bottom? Nwwaew (Talk Page) (Contribs) (E-mail me) 18:53, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

  • maybe because the director or something was the executive producer of Thomas and Friends for the first two seasons. Unknow12.

missing episodes

That's interesting, but strange. As far as I know, all the tugboat segments were filmed in Halifax. Why would some have been filmed in America? I'm not saying it's not true, I just am curious as to why. Do you mean the cheaper-looking third season episodes with the really fake underwater sets for Northumberland that look like the inside of an aquarium? Even so, the above-water sets still look the same as the old ones, and I don't know why they'd transport the whole set to the US.

All episodes recovered.

I recovered all the Theodore tugboat episodes and there all back up! Corgie Queen 19:13, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

Add pics?

I was just thnking, we should add pics of the characters for newcomers to the show. What do YOU think? S.C.Ruffeyfan15:44, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

I think that's an excellent idea!! We should! Corgie Queen (talk) 03:13, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

GREAT! I'll try take pics of characters from my TT vids! We should also make 'alone' articles for the main characters! --S.C.Ruffeyfan 12:54, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

I made my first TT character article here. --S.C.Ruffeyfan 14:00, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

It looks like the article you created has been deleted (it's redlinked and contains a "page deleted" message stating that the article was an unreferenced, uncategorised orphan with not much content as already given in the characters article.trainfan01 19:50, October 8, 2010 (UTC)

New Seasons

Well, I could add Pugwash is Gone to the guide. What season is that in? --S.C.Ruffeyfan 17:58, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

I can do that. Just remember that there are only 5 seasons. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.237.219.225 (talk) 00:20, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

Project

Should we start a project for TT? It should have its own instead of having to share with TUGS. --S.C.Ruffeyfan 18:01, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

  • My vote is, No. Don't get me wrong, I love this show and want to make a project too but I doubt more than 10 people would be interested. Plus making a project means keeping an eye on an topic with a wide scope. For example the WP:Thomas's scope includes the TV series, Railway Series, Episode Guides, Character guides etc.... The most a WP:Theodore Tugboat would have is just two articles. TT itself and Theodore Too. Sorry if anyone has trouble understanding what I mean. Driveus 09:34, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

Well, I made an article for the character of Theodore. We could do multi-character pages. --S.C.Ruffeyfan 20:10, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

  • By multi-character pages, if you mean just making articles for main characters that say exatly the same thing it says on Theodore's main article/page I'd suggest we don't do it. If you try it, sure it would mean widening the WP's scope but then other wikipedians may want to merge the character article with the original article. Take a lot on your Theodore Tugboat character page alex. Its already been tagged (I didn't do it though in case your wondering). Driveus 09:50, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

South Park

In the episode of south park The New Terrance and Phillip Movie Trailer, while the boys are waiting for the trailer to come on the watch the show "Fightin' Round the World With Russel Crowe." Russel has a sidekick who is a tugboat named Tugger. Could this be a Theodore Reference? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.160.145.43 (talk) 23:52, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

I recall that Theodore seemed to disappear quite abruptly in the U.S. What I mean by this is that the shows quit airing on PBS Kids, info was pulled from the PBS web site, and the licensed items (toys and such) seemed to disappear from stores. My thought was that there was some sort of lawsuit (perhaps a copyright issue with a similar show???) which resulted in the owners of Theodore having to pull everything out. Does anyone know anything about this? Perhaps it wasn't as sudden as it seemed, but my husband and I were quite sad when Theodore disappeared. IvyRabbit (talk) 03:38, 18 June 2011 (UTC)

missing eps

What about the episode when the ferrie twins become upset and Philmore leaves the harbor and wheres the ep when canso starts to sink and Natulious is in charge of saving him/Bulldog180 (talk) 20:22, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

Ringo and Michael

To whomever it is that keeps writing Ringo Starr and Michael Angelis in as narrators, STOP!!! Those two had nothing to do with Theodore Tugboat. They were narrators for Thomas the Tank Engine! Article Too Detailed?

The list of characters and list of episodes is getting very long and detailed. Should they perhaps be broken out into separate linked articles as with other TV series? Letterofmarque (talk) 00:01, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

I fully agree, and would love to see the episodes section broken off to its own article. A quick count reveals that only 94 of the 130 existing episodes are listed here, which means that an independent episodes article would indeed have plenty room for further growth, but would likely be extremely difficult to reference. - WikHead (talk) 02:21, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
I have moved the detailed episode list to a new page to make the main article easy to navigate as per Wikipedia guidelines Letterofmarque (talk) 00:51, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
Excellent! Good work Letterofmarque :) -- WikHead (talk) 00:55, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
Thanks. And Good work with the episode/character links.Letterofmarque (talk) 00:34, 8 August 2009 (UTC)
And thank you as well :). I'd almost be tempted at this point, to remove template:{{fancruft}} if it wasn't for sub-section "Characters not seen"... which I'm not sure should even be there. What are your views? Does a simple mention of someone or something in a show (or implied notion that they've been on the phone) qualify them as a character, or is it really just unencyclopedic cruft that should perhaps be pulled? -- WikHead (talk) 17:02, 8 August 2009 (UTC)
I have been thinking about this. I agree with doing away with the "Characters Not Seen" - seems pretty trivial and not encyclopedic. More broadly, I'd like to recommend keeping the description of the tugs, harbourmaster and dispatcher character on the main Theodore page and move all the other character text to a page called "List of Theodore Tugboat Characters". This is the approach used with other TV shows like "The Simpsons". A different approach, used with the Thomas Tank Engine and TUGS pages, involves even more subpages depending on the type of character, but that seems too complicated to me. What do do think WikHead? Letterofmarque (talk) 15:23, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
Intelligent rationale for a great idea :). I can't help wonder though, if the main article might look a bit skinny after being trimmed down to about half its current size. I also have an uneasy feeling that the "Real places" section (which I believe belongs in the main article) may possibly look a bit misplaced if not paged together with the character list. This is not to say that I reject your idea, but more a way of bringing a bit of uncertainty and indecision to the table ;).
An alternative idea, may be to pull "Characters not seen", along with the cruft-template, and relocate the entire character-list farther down the page. This would at least give readers immediate access to a description of the show before thrawling through an arm's-length list of characters first. I'm still up for discussion of course, and even a bit curious to see if anyone else chimes-in before things start getting moved. -- WikHead (talk) 11:30, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
You know?... The more I think of it, the more I think your plan might just work out for the overall betterment of the article. Up til now, it has been very largely "list-format" based (something the style-guides really frown upon), but going with your plan and moving this incredibly long list to a page titled "List of", ultimately solves this key issue. I'm interested to see what your plan looks like in action, as I think it could give us a much clearer view of other (smaller) areas that are still in need of a good tightening up. -- WikHead (talk) 10:02, 13 August 2009 (UTC)
I will give it a try and see how it looks with that long character list in another article. I agree that the Real Places section belongs in the main article. Let's see how it looks. Letterofmarque (talk) 03:56, 16 August 2009 (UTC)
Well, I had a go and created a Characters page and moved the great long list of characters in all their detailed glory to the new page, leaving the main characters and some character summaries. Still needs some work in the summaries as well as cross linking but I think it makes for a shorter and better understood article. Let me know what you think.Letterofmarque (talk) 02:57, 18 August 2009 (UTC)
You're a great editor! I think I'm liking what you've done so far :). There are a few minor little tweaks I'd like to apply myself (of course), but I'll deal with that a little later through the night... after I know you're all done, and after I finish watching House LOL ;). Looks good! -- WikHead (talk) 03:13, 18 August 2009 (UTC)
The bold-text on items in the "Regular characters" and "Visiting characters" sections is a bit distracting to the eye. I'd personally prefer the use of italics here, but I'm uncertain whether either is true to style. I am however, most impressed that you were able to recycle and reuse so many references on the new page. Good stuff! -- WikHead (talk) 10:02, 18 August 2009 (UTC)
You are right about the bold. I'll change them to italics. Thanks for the tweaking. Everyone helps in the Big Harbour! Letterofmarque (talk) 00:59, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

Opening, main and closing sequences

Is it really necessary to have the info on the opening, main and closing sequences of this series. I don't see that on other TV show pages. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Trainfan01 (talkcontribs) 03:50, 8 May 2010 (UTC)

Plus it is not as notable as that of other TV series (such as Sesame Street) and Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information. I think the info should be removed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Trainfan01 (talkcontribs) 16:31, 21 May 2010 (UTC)

Additionally the sections have no sources to verify the sequences either which means it is original research. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Trainfan01 (talkcontribs) 03:04, 25 May 2010 (UTC)

Actually many TV series articles have sections about episode Formula or Episode Structure and almost all of them have Opening Sequence sections. This is useful information to understand how the television show was written and perceived. These sections in the Theodore Tugboat article are also well sourced with plenty of footnotes.Letterofmarque (talk) 16:10, 3 July 2010 (UTC)

There certainly are sources now like you said. I have removed the seperate titles from this section as it saves a bit of space. trainfan01 20:57, August 6, 2010 (UTC)

and i put them back. it's not broken, and doesn't need to be fixed. 142.68.205.52 (talk) 08:25, 6 August 2010 (UTC)

And I removed the seperate titles again. On the other pages for other TV shows the formula sections are given as a single section rather than seperate sections. trainfan01 6:29, August 11, 2010 (UTC)

please stop. your changes to the article are unnecessary, unwanted and counterproductive. this section has been referenced and has existed in an acceptable state long before your username ever existed, and nobody had a problem with it before you came along. if you see other articles that are lacking the things you've described, please feel free to improve them, but don't trash this article in the process. (1) see WP:OTHERSTUFF, (2) please provide detailed links that suggest this article's formula violates wiki style guidlines before repeating your unwelcome changes. 142.68.205.52 (talk) 19:34, 11 August 2010 (UTC)

I have been looking at other pages of various TV shows and I see their formula sections are given in a single section (with no seperate titles (opening sequence, main sequence, etc.) unlike this one). Therefore if it is done on other pages like that it certainly is to be done on this one. It also saves a bit of space. I am being sure that the info STAYS (like you said above). trainfan01 20:30, August 11, 2010 (UTC)

Now after going back through several other articles the formula section on Barney & Friends is done in the format on this article. It will remain like this for now. trainfan01 talk 19:17, November 8, 2010 (UTC)

Thank you. I personally did not welcome those changes at all.  -- WikHead (talk) 01:54, 10 November 2010 (UTC)
