[edit]If any fucker puts another speedy deletion tag on this article, I will actually beat them. Thank you. Antic-Hay (talk) 12:15, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
The fact that they are signed to Southern Fried Records and have released an album with them, as well as several singles elsewhere, makes them notable. Therefore anyone who adds a speedy deletion tag to the album is a fucking RETARD and deserves to be SHOT. Antic-Hay (talk) 12:30, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
- Before dropping yourself in it further with your uncivil comments please look at WP:BAND which will show you the criteria needed for a band's inclusion in Wikipedia. This band does not even come close to meeting that criteria. --WebHamster 12:36, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
- Look in the External Links section where we have "multiple non-trivial published works whose source is independent from the musician/ensemble itself and reliable" talking about the Whip, a whole section in NME about the band, a report on their tour, a review of their album in The Guardian. Looks like they unambiguously meet the criteria for article 1 in Wikipedia:BAND#Criteria_for_musicians_and_ensembles, and potentially article 4 also. Their meeting the criteria for article 5 is I suppose contentious if you're an anal-retentive pedant (like some wikipedians who shall remain nameless) but I think it's reasonable to say that they're notable in having released their debut album on a major indie label, and a glut of singles on several other major indie labels. So I demand an apology from User:WebHamster for claiming that they do not come close to meeting that criteria. Antic-Hay (talk) 13:48, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
- I suspect an apology for calling him a "fucking retard" that "deserves to be shot" might also be in order? I suspect you know wikipedia's policies on personal attacks, so I won't patronise you by reminding you of them. Hopefully you admit it was a heat of the moment outburst? SGGH speak! 20:51, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
OK, I apologize. However I see that The Whip have been put up for a Vote for Deletion, which seems to have been done out of spite, considering that it's a very new article and in a very short space of time it has by all accounts at the very least potentially met the criteria for notability. I'm adding more links at the moment so that what shall soon be a useful article doesn't get deleted.Antic-Hay (talk) 00:43, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
Also, I think it would have been far better to add a stub tag to the article rather than out right deleting it. Antic-Hay (talk) 00:57, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
I've added a reference tag to their track appearing on the very definitely notable and rather massive Kitsuné records compilation album, but I don't seem to have done it quite right, if anyone could fix it, that would be great! Also, this means they meet criterion A10 in music notability! Antic-Hay (talk) 00:57, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
I've added most of their discography and some of their remix work. Starting to look like a proper band page now. Woop woop woop. Michaelwignall (talk) 16:45, 20 September 2008 (UTC)
