Finding sources

[edit]

Just letting people know that at the moment i'm searching all around for sources and things. It sickens me that the Silverchair and Powderfinger pages got Featured Article status and this band hasn't! We've got lots of work to do! Narcissus1x (talk) 03:59, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What bad experiences?

[edit]

'Lead singer Craig Nicholls was becoming increasingly erratic, and had to be barred from doing media interviews after several bad experiences on the American tour'.

What experiences?

Bad for whom?

Details?

Please read this first

In the article it is said:

On 19 November 2004 it was revealed that Craig Nicholls has Asperger's Syndrome, a form of autism. His diagnosis was revealed at a court appearance at Balmain Local Court in Sydney where assault charges stemming from the incident at the Annandale Hotel were dropped. The Vines may never undertake a major tour again because of Nicholls' condition but plan to perform occasional concerts according to several newspapers and interviews.

What is the relation between having Asperger's syndrome and not being able to undertake a major tour?

--81.38.170.90 20:30, 31 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Asperger's Syndrome is a brain disorder, which renders the victim's social skills useless. They tend to look younger(and act younger)than their age and they don't like things changing from time to time. So considering the different places, different people and lack of rest Craig has to meet with(which explains his erratic behaviour during live shows), I guess you're question is answered.Victoria Eleanor 14:57, 15 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No, Aspergers syndrome isn't as severe as that. It isn't usually problem, people are born with it and it only wrecks social skills people probably shouldn't use anyway. Craig Nicholls is just fine. -Remy

It's entirely possible that Nicholls' Aspergers does affect his ability to tour. The constant break of routine, being forced to work in environments that are new and uncomfortable, even stuff going on onstage (sensory overload) can all contribute to meltdowns, which manifest - generally - as what appears to be a tantrum. I have Aspergers myself, so I do sympathise with Nicholls, a bit.

Hey, its all good, they are soon going to release your dates, i love those freakin vines. -Storminmormon888

Hmmm. Good point. I didn't know he had such a severe case of it. -Remy

Post Grunge or Grunge?

[edit]

I've always been on the fence as to whether the Vines' music is better characterized as Grunge or Post-Grunge. After seeing live performances, I really think they should be categorized as Grunge (unless we use the time-metric for "Grunge" rather than the music-metric for "Grunge".) Anyone?

Why no live earth?

[edit]

What's the story? Did The Vines decline the offer of Live Earth or they were not offered the concert at all??? I'm not watching that concert now. I need The Vines!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Criticism and controversy

[edit]

So does this. It's not just Asperger's Syndrome. There's the David Letterman incident, and the public backlash over their second album which didn't do nearly as well. Narcissus1x (talk) 14:06, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Discography

[edit]

The title of the latest album is not yet confirmed. For all we know, it could be Braindead, but seeing this site strives to provide accurate information, the unconfirmed information should either be deleted or come with a note. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.142.67.122 (talk) 19:45, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • I thought it was confirmed? There was an article on undercover.com.au in which they got the scoop about the new details of the new Vines album called "Brain Dead." There it talked about the new single "He's a Rocker" too, and provided other information. [1] Do we need more sources for confirmation of the title? Or an official press release? Let me know what you think and I'll try to find more sources. :) Narcissus1x (talk) 22:40, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Deep Cuts EP?

[edit]

I noticed there's no page for the Deep Cuts EP Capital put out in 2009. I believe it might be only a digital release, but it exists none the less. It features "Ms. Jackson" "Drown the Baptists" and live versions of "Get Free" and "Country Yard" —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.20.91.249 (talk) 03:19, 23 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
