Fair use rationale for Image:Humanfactor.jpg
[edit]Image:Humanfactor.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page. If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BetacommandBot 03:35, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
It should be noted that the on-screen title of this film, in its opening credits is The "Human" Factor, with the quotation marks clearly visible. As of this writing, a print is available for viewing here. —Roman Spinner (talk)(contribs) 02:42, 28 August 2017 (UTC)

- The matter of the quotation marks in this film's title is basically unrelated to the currently-active WP:RM Talk:The Human Factor (novel)#Requested move 27 August 2017. Upon the submission of the RM, editors started examining all the other entries at The Human Factor (disambiguation) page and the seemingly unusual placement of the quotes in this title became the focus of attention. All I added in June 2015 was the parenthetical qualifier "(1975 film)", as well as changing the original single quotes to the current double quotes, per form used in the film's credits. For the record, those single quotation marks in "Human" had been there since the entry for this film was created in September 2007. —Roman Spinner (talk)(contribs) 20:45, 28 August 2017 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: moved. The common name argument seems to gain consensus. Best, (closed by non-admin page mover) Reading Beans, Duke of Rivia 18:30, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
The "Human" Factor (1975 film) → The Human Factor (1975 film) – Most of the sources and external links don't use the scare quotes, and the materials from the movie itself don't seem to use them either. I haven't attempted to find out which usage is more common overall through search. –LaundryPizza03 (dc̄) 03:34, 31 October 2024 (UTC) — Relisting. - Oppose. The topic was discussed over seven years ago in the exchange appearing directly above this RM. The on-screen opening credits do, in fact, depict the title as The "Human" Factor, not simply The Human Factor. The film is available on YouTube. —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 05:20, 31 October 2024 (UTC)
- Unrelated comment: The film is still copyrighted, please do not encourage illegal practices with a link to an unauthorised upload and kindly remove it from your comment. Thank you. -My, oh my! (Mushy Yank) 12:28, 31 October 2024 (UTC)
- A valid point and I have deleted the link to YouTube within my comment. Ultimately, there is no need to provide links proving the existence of commas, ellipses, question marks, exclamation points, etc within film credits unless such facts are in dispute. —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 18:44, 1 November 2024 (UTC)
- Support: We should pay attention to what is common in independent reliable sources, not what's shown on the screen when watching the film. Note that the poster art, shown at the top of the article, doesn't put quote marks around "Human", and the AFI catalog and Rotten Tomatoes don't either. When sources are inconsistent, Wikipedia should choose the simpler form, and Wikipedia usually avoids scare quotes. — BarrelProof (talk) 09:44, 31 October 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose. Reliable sources (including BFI) indicate the original title contains "...".-My, oh my! (Mushy Yank) 12:35, 31 October 2024 (UTC)

- Support. Sources like Rotten Tomatoes, AFI, TCM, Apple, Amazon, TMDB, etc. all omit the quotes, demonstrating that usage is at best inconsistent and divided. As such, we should use the simpler form (per BarrelProof above). ╠╣uw [talk] 18:45, 12 November 2024 (UTC)
