Availability on DVD?
[edit]Any hint on when this series will be available on DVD? Siyavash 12:59, 22 July 2006 (UTC)
- No word as of yet. Keep an eye on the site tvshowsondvd.com as they tend to get the first word on such things. 23skidoo 13:18, 22 July 2006 (UTC)
I would imagine the best chance of the Series being made available on DVD, is if the much mooted Equalizer Movie actually gets made. Apparently this is to start filiming in 2007.
I saw the show, but don't remember much, did Melissa Sue Anderson play McCalls lost loves daughter, or is she playing another daughter?

Season 1 is available in Region 1 (USA), but the other seasons are not as of yet. Am hoping they will be released soon! Bluburd — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bluburd (talk • contribs) 05:25, 12 February 2014 (UTC)
McCall drove a Jag XJ-S, & I'd include it, but I can't figure out where to put it... Jon Sable 18:51, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
I thought he drove an XJ6 or XJ12? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.3.206.254 (talk) 00:06, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
- The Jag is a 1985 black XJ6 Jaguar sedan [New York license plate: 5809-AUJ] (it says XJ6 on the back)
- Source says AUG, and I confirm it from an ep of the show 78.86.230.62 (talk) 21:44, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
- Curiouser and curiouser, I am looking at the rear of the car in the first episode of series 2 and the registration of his car is now AUJ rather than AUG as it was in series 1...it's still a black Jag XJ6 though :-)
- I took the initiative and grabbed a screenshot showing the car's registration, and it's at http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a117/SmUX/5809auj.jpg 78.86.230.62 (talk) 19:08, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
series 3 Eps 4 has another plate 5809 AUI on a New York white plate @ 2.56.46
Stainless Steel Walther PPK
[edit]I remeber McCall having a stainless PPK, but I've also seen publicity photos for the show with him holding a blued model. Was that one ever in the show?--156.26.12.72 19:19, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
In the pilot episode McCall is shown carrying and using as his primary weapon a blued Walther PP, most likely in .32 ACP/7.65mm. In subsequent episodes his primary concealed carry weapon is a stainless steel Interarms/Ranger Walther PPK/S chambered in .380 ACP/9mm kurz and equipped with Pachmayr grips. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 162.58.82.135 (talk) 13:03, 14 April 2016 (UTC)
On his left collar
[edit]McCall has a badge or something on his left collar in most of the shows. What is this? Anybody else noticed? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.164.78.188 (talk) 21:32, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
Adam Ant
[edit]For Guest Stars, Adam Ant was one. I remember the episode well where his character kidnapped girls and forced them into captive prostitution. One girl's vengeful father was outraged at Ant;s character walking free from court, because he held some sort of diplomatic immunity. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.97.237.235 (talk) 23:05, 16 November 2009 (UTC)
- http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Adam_ant#Acting_career confirms he has been in the show, HOWEVER I have checked the episode in question and he is not credited either as Stuart Goddard or Adam Ant although the guy in question does look remarkably like him (I remember thinking he was familiar when I watched the show previously). The episode in question is "S1E4 - The Lock Box" and a few other notable minor celebrities are in the episode as well, but maybe too minor to mention.
- People who know of the Die Hard movies might recognise the DJ Hunter (in the same episode) as the cop McClane talks with over the radio (and he's more notable than that) played by actor Reginald VelJohnson
78.86.230.62 (talk) 21:16, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
- Are you sure he's not billed as Adam Ant? I would've sworn he was (and the IMDb, for what that's worth, doesn't say "uncredited" or "as [alternate name]"), but I have to admit that I haven't seen this in years. --Tbrittreid (talk) 21:27, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
- I have the episode downloaded and I've looked twice at the start (where guest stars are usually credited) and at the end and no mention of either name. To be totally 100% sure I will check again and watch both sides all the way through in case they decided to add him in somewhere else. Edit: The episode does cut out straight after "Starring Edward Woodward" and goes into the episode, so he might have been credited there...he definitely wasn't credited in the end credits though 78.86.230.62 (talk) 21:46, 19 November 2009 (UTC)

Gotta problem?
[edit]The page, up until I edited it anyway, said his newspaper ad says "Got a problem?". The actual wording is "Gotta problem?" and I have corrected it. I am noting this here so that other people considering 'correcting' it will realise that it doesn't need correcting 78.86.230.62 (talk) 21:18, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
- I have noticed that not ALL episodes have the same advert. S1E5 has no "gotta problem?" at all, and it might be possible that future episodes have the grammatically correct "got a problem?" so this might be down to personal taste. The first episode's advert said "gotta problem?" though, so could be considered the original marker from which each was made 78.86.230.62 (talk) 21:54, 19 November 2009 (UTC)

Callan
[edit]I remember watching this many years ago and I always though that this was at least vaguely a sequel to 'Callan' (http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Callan_%28TV_series%29) from about 15 years earlier. Where does the assumption that he is ex CIA come from? Mtpaley (talk) 01:37, 26 August 2012 (UTC)
- From the frequent reference to his former employer as "The company" a slang term for the CIA popular in modern spy fiction, and allegedly in real life. DES (talk) 22:41, 7 November 2013 (UTC)
From Memory
[edit]When the show suddenly left the air, I remember a news blurb, maybe from actual local or national news, or from Entertainment Tonight, that this show was canned because an actor, from the cast, just died. While I can search microfilm archives from my library, I'm just pointing out here. Again, it's from memory, and the memory is distant.
After a bit of research, via Bing and Google searches, it appears that nobody died, but the last episodes deals with a suicide. It unlocked the memory, and it is from Entertainment Tonight. I can see the set of ET and the Mary Hart talking about it. Funny thing memories are. And for over 20 years, I thought somebody died and that's why CBS cancelled the show. LOL! Nothing to add to the article, sorry.

lawsuit
[edit]Hi, I've just watched this Youtube video from 'Lawful Masses with Leonard French' where he used a lawsuit about The Equalizer as an example. Sadly he didn't find how it went forward.

The Equalizer → The Equalizer (1985 TV Series) – There's a new TV show; seems like potential confusion. Smith(talk) 00:37, 10 February 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose - the original is the primary topic and inspiration for all the follow-ups. Confusion is resolved by the hatnote. -- Netoholic @ 01:41, 10 February 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose - it's too early; they don't have equal notability. Heartfox (talk) 03:46, 10 February 2021 (UTC)
- Support The Equalizer (1985 TV series) (lowercase "s" in series) - there's also the 2014 film, which had more page views until this week (where people probably looking for the new TV series landed here). Google search results are biased towards the new series, but that's largely recentism. I don't see a primary topic here. 75.162.124.147 (talk) 17:29, 10 February 2021 (UTC)
- Support move to The Equalizer (1985 TV series), and point to the disambiguation page, as a placeholder, until a franchise article is written/split from the adaptation section. It's not "too early", since there's already two Denzel films. -- 65.93.183.33 (talk) 03:40, 11 February 2021 (UTC)
- The main character should be split off for a fictional biography, that can cover all three versions (Woodward, Denzel, Queen), as The Equalizer (character) -- 65.93.183.33 (talk) 03:57, 11 February 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose for the reason Netoholic said, the new series can stay at The Equalizer (2021 TV series) with the old one staying where it is. And we have no idea if the new series will even be popular like the original. Govvy (talk) 10:27, 11 February 2021 (UTC)
- Strongly oppose as per WP:PRIMARYTOPIC (esp. #2), and other comments made here. In virtually all cases the original work(s) should stay at the base title (Hawaii Five-O was a special case because of the different titling used in the two versions...) Sidenote: A The Equalizer (character) article is probably a good idea. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 16:26, 13 February 2021 (UTC)

Jeff Seitz composer credit?
[edit]I could have sworn I remember seeing Jeff Seitz (a longtime collaborator of Stewart Copeland) credited as composer on some later episodes. But I don't see his name here or on IMDB. Am I losing my mind? Jerry Kindall (talk) 01:44, 22 January 2024 (UTC)
