History
[edit]I have added the "Turbulent History" section about the Daily Journal as a way of adding my experiences there to the historical record about this newspaper. I was a first-person witness to all of the events that I have described, and have attempted, insofar as I am able, to describe the facts and events with as little editorializing as possible. I recognize that this may not be possible, since dry facts themselves are prisoners to the context in which they either appear (or do not). One of the frustrations of being a journalist is to "know" things, but not to be able to print them, because the proper "proof" was not available at the time. Some of that proof has emerged in the decades since. Some of that proof exists only in the minds of those who were there, and who experienced the chaos and terror of those days.
The events of 1988 were violent and polarizing, and if anyone has another perspective or deeper insight into what happened during this epoch, please feel free to add and edit.

- And, unsourced, with a POV section heading. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 18:49, 28 January 2010 (UTC)
- Rd, did you see this post (above) and his user page? I don't know what to do with this original research, and my search turns up a complex story, but not the one that's here. Don't know what to make of it, or whether to just stub the article. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 21:14, 24 February 2010 (UTC)
- I hadn't seen either. It suggests original research to a degree that the History section should be radically stubbed, with a link here to the old version in case anyone's interested, and leave it for future expansion based on published reliable sources, including some you've already listed. - Since he hasn't edited for a year, I've dropped him an email to notify of this discussion and ask him if he has sources. Rd232 talk 21:22, 24 February 2010 (UTC)
- OK, if we don't hear from him in a few days, and if he doesn't have sources, we should stub anything unsourced and start over. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 21:25, 24 February 2010 (UTC)
