Fair use rationale for Image:The Calm Before The Storm - Front.jpg

[edit]

Image:The Calm Before The Storm - Front.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 03:40, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move

[edit]
The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: moved to The Calm Before the Storm (Tech N9ne album). Album disambiguations follow the article name of the artist (if necessary), which in this case is Tech N9ne. If the artists article is moved, than this can be moved too. Armbrust The Homunculus 10:46, 24 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The Calm Before the StormThe Calm Before the Storm (album) – No primary topic; with so many other "The Calm Before the Storm" topics covered in Google Books (and in en.wp articles) this should redirect to the Calm Before the Storm dab list. Alternatively move to The Calm Before the Storm (Tech N9ne album) given Calm Before the Storm (Venom album), Calm Before the Storm (Paul Brandt album), Calm Before the Storm (Lauren Harris album), Calm Before the Storm, and other albums listed. Billboard is mainly consistent in not using "The" with any of the other albums, but "The" in this case may not be enough to pass WP:CRITERIA as recognizable for "Tech N9ne". • Oppose. Per WP:AT (specifically WP:DIFFCAPS): "Titles of distinct articles may differ only in their detail." Since this is the only WP article with the "The", we can use it as natural disambiguation, which is the general preference on WP. We only use "(xxx)" when we have to - and here, we don't have to. A hatnote should be sufficient, per WP:DIFFCAPS. Dohn joe (talk) 00:45, 17 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
WP:DIFFCAPS would only apply to the 2nd alternative, The Calm Before the Storm (Tech N9ne album), it doesn't apply to The Calm Before the Storm (album) since other songs, TV episodes and so on are covered in en.wp articles.
Again please see WP:PRIMARYTOPIC.

A topic is primary for a term, with respect to usage, if it is highly likely—much more likely than any other topic, and more likely than all the other topics combined—to be the topic sought when a reader searches for that term.
A topic is primary for a term, with respect to long-term significance, if it has substantially greater enduring notability and educational value than any other topic associated with that term.

Does this album pass either of these tests? In ictu oculi (talk) 00:51, 17 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
WP:DIFFCAPS is the most relevant policy here, because your claim is that "The" is not enough to distinguish this album from articles titled plain "Calm Before the Storm". WP:DIFFCAPS says that it is. So we don't need extra disambiguation. Let me ask. If the RM goes through, where would The Calm Before the Storm redirect? (And yes, this article passes the primarytopic test, because it is the only WP article with this title. It qualifies by default. Dohn joe (talk) 01:02, 17 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Please see as stated in RM propoal above The Calm Before the Storm would redirect to the Calm Before the Storm dab list which lists all the "THE Calm Before the Storm" topics featured in en.wp articles. Please see WP:Disambiguation first sentence re whether we disambiguate on topics or titles. In ictu oculi (talk) 01:13, 17 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The discussion has already been closed, but I found this interesting, so...

  • The Calm Before the Storm has been viewed 8705 times in the last 90 days.
  • Calm Before the Storm has been viewed 466 times in the last 90 days.
  • Calm Before the Storm (Venom album) has been viewed 3623 times in the last 90 days.
  • Calm Before the Storm (Paul Brandt album) has been viewed 570 times in the last 90 days.
  • Calm Before the Storm (Lauren Harris album) has been viewed 2165 times in the last 90 days.

So, with those statistics, we just redirected 8705 page views for the one article for a combined page views of 6824. When this was the only article for a subject with "The" in the title, and there was already a Disambig page that could have been Hatnoted? – Mizery Made (talk · contribs) 14:02, 24 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
