I feel bad that this article has been nominated for almost four months now and still hasn't gotten picked up, so I'm here now. I'll try to review it within the next few days. λ NegativeMP1 06:34, 28 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Prose review

[edit]
  • "However, the song was ultimately shelved, as the band wished to avoid political themes on the album and deemed the song as "low-hanging fruit" for the "terrible politics and terrible division" within the United States." The wording feels off here. I'm not sure if I have any specific suggestions regarding it though, so feel free to ignore this. -  Done: Swapped around the two points, I think it flows a lot more naturally now
  • "Despite being one of the final tracks recorded for Saviors, the band ultimately decided that "The American Dream Is Killing Me" should be released as the album's first single." Change the wording to just "It was one of the final tracks recorded for Saviors." -  Done
  • Is the quote box necessary? It seems like the general gist of it is paraphrased well in the article prose itself. Removing it would also give room for the audio sample to be moved up to the composition section. -  Removed: I personally do like having the artist's own words in there, but I definitely see your point about it being repetitive. I think I'll leave the audio sample where it is, however, since it directly mentions the critical reception of that section.
  • "The song has also been compared to those of the Clash and Thin Lizzy." By who? -  Fixed

Media review

[edit]
  • There is only one piece of media in this article, and that's the audio sample, which has a pretty clear rationale for its inclusion.

Source review

[edit]
  • Spotchecked certain uses of references 1, 5, 7, 26, 44, and 60.
    • All of the above passed verification except for 26. Technically, its a primary source that doesn't specifically say "digital download and streaming", or say that it's the albums first single. But I know there's references in the rest of the article that verify this (5, probably some others I didn't check) so I don't think this is a big issue. -  Half done: I've added source 5 to back up the song being the first single, but there is precedent behind using primary sources like iTunes to justify digital download/streaming: see FAs "I Drink Wine" and "Deja Vu" (which uses Amazon music), for instance.

Final comments

[edit]

The article is fairly well written, and it's mostly fine, but there's some things that I think need to be addressed. I'll put this article on hold for now to let you address some of the issues I did find, but there's not many. λ NegativeMP1 01:59, 4 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the quick review! Congrats too for getting "The Foundations of Decay" to GA, I hope that that got you back into the groove following the FAC of "Wake Me Up When September Ends". I've made all the edits which you've called for, is there anything else you see? Leafy46 (talk) 03:04, 4 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, the article looks good now. And thanks for the congratulations regarding "The Foundations of Decay", I'm gonna continue working on some more smaller song articles from now on in the meanwhile as I procrastinate fixing up The Black Parade. I might try to fix up "Dead!" next, honestly. Anyways, I think this article can pass now, good job. P.S. I'll get to "Cancer" within the next few days. λ NegativeMP1 05:25, 4 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
