Adult animated?

[edit]

I've seen several sources call it adult animated and Gooseworx herself admits that older teens and adults were the target audience.

Should we put that in the lead? Turtletennisfogwheat (talk) 10:36, 10 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The series does contain several adult themes such as profanity, existential dread, etc, therefore I would say we should. SleepDeprivedGinger (talk) 13:39, 10 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Well, the profanity is censored and existential dread is something found in something like Puss in Boots: The Last Wish and that's a kids film. So I wouldn't necessarily use those as reasons to call it "adult animated". Goose and GLITCH did clarify however that older audiences like teens and adults were the target demographic. So there's our proof. Turtletennisfogwheat (talk) 02:19, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
We agree this show isn't intended for young children, but is it adult animation if teens are included in the target audience? The article itself says it does on occasion. User:SubZeroSilver (talk) 12:06, 26 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It is worth noting that the definition for adult animation presented in the Wikipedia article for "Adult animation" itself is "any type of animated motion work that is catered specifically to adult interests and is mainly targeted and marketed towards adults and adolescents".
But even given this, it is also worth noting is that Gooseworx, the show's creator, has described show's main target demographic as being "people in their 20s", without mention of teens. Further, news sources like The Mary Sue do directly label the series using the term "adult animation". — Jamie Eilat (talk) 13:30, 26 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
An update to this: the listing for The Amazing Digital Circus on Netflix directly labels the series as adult animation. If the sources mentioned in my previous reply didn't already settle the question of it being adult animation, then this, I think, surely does settle it. — Jamie Eilat (talk) 09:44, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Update to this
Netflix now just labels it as 13+ Turtletennisfogwheat (talk) 08:37, 18 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Nothing on Netflix has changed. It's still listed under genres as adult animation, & the rating is still TV-PG. — Jamie Eilat (talk) 15:46, 18 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You know, SubZeroSilver, a lot of adult sitcoms have the rating TV14, so I wouldn't question it. 2603:6010:8B00:44FF:39F4:CB1C:9078:5E31 (talk) 16:09, 20 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Its somewhat common for an adult sitcom to be TV14 but usually its TVMA. 47.156.50.64 (talk) 23:37, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Just because its intended towards older teens doesnt mean its adult animation. Go on netflix and look at the rating. Its TVPG for a reason. 47.156.50.64 (talk) 23:44, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
As previously pointed out, the series is directly labeled on Netflix as being "Adult Animation"; this is (or at least, ought to be), a fairly settled topic. — Jamie Eilat (talk) 00:07, 2 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The official web site lists the target audience as 13-24 years old. I'd say that's much more relevant than the genre category a streaming service uninvolved with its creation chooses to use to convince people to watch it. Voyagingtalk 10:55, 3 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I see what you are saying, but I think the existing sources for the article are adequate for proving this. Historyday01 (talk) 15:00, 3 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The show has more mature ratings in other countries, such as "M" in Australia and "12" in the UK 177.86.22.255 (talk) 01:39, 29 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. Honestly i can't see why someone would call it "Adult Animation" as theres practically no taboo matter. 47.156.50.64 (talk) 23:51, 20 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I wouldnt say its an "adult animation" because the profanity is censored and there is not that much taboo matter. Not to mention young people (gen z & alpha) do comprimise the vast majority of its fanbase despite gooseworx targeting it towards older people. The rating is generally debated between TV-PG and PG, but i could see someone rating it TV-14 but not TV-MA or higher. 47.156.50.64 (talk) 23:41, 20 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Turtletennisfogwheat No. just because the show is targeted towards adults doesn't mean it's an adult animation. Uxfifig (talk) 21:31, 1 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Exactly. It has to have mature themes and, if the purposes of this site, be defined in a reliable source as an adult animation. Often creators say their series is an adult series (see Hazbin Hotel or Helluva Boss) but other times they do not. Historyday01 (talk) 14:58, 3 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
TADC absolutely has mature themes though, just as much, if not more, than HB and HH. Turtletennisfogwheat (talk) 11:03, 8 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Turtletennisfogwheat
My Opinion is simple like web series is simply indie animation and not labeled as adult animation see (Making fiends i edit the page and Amy winfrey works on adult animation) 186.189.104.29 (talk) 16:22, 2 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Potential Recurring Characters List?

[edit]

Since the Gloink Queen, Gummigoo, Chad, and Max have returned in Episode 4, should we possibly start looking into setting up a list for recurring characters alongside main and guest characters? 2603:6010:8B00:44FF:B5DF:2E59:1890:8ACB (talk) 00:50, 14 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

four bfb

[edit]

Caine is partially inspired by Four BFB, should we add that?

Change the photo of the child cosplayer to an adult cosplayer to avoid confusion of TADC as a children’s cartoon 2607:FEA8:2922:E800:DD13:593B:9F32:D49B (talk) 20:00, 10 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
