The Family Tree
[edit]According to the episode "Morticia's Romance" ( Part One ) - Morticias' maiden name is "Morticia Frump". ( Daughter of Esther , sister of Ophelia ). Grandmama calls Gomez her son , thus making her Grandmama Addams. ( Esther Frump & Grandmama Addams were school chums. ) Gomez refers to Itt as his cousin , and Thing as his friend since childhood. In flashback , Lurch is already a part of the family household , and as mentioned in previous episodes is a "hired" servant.
Of note is Uncle Fester in this particular episode , Morticia consults her "Uncle Fester" ( Jackie Coogan ) by telephone , but in previous episodes he has been identified as "Fester Addams" , implying he is Gomez's "Uncle". One might speculate both cases are true , and thus , like many royal families , The Addams Family has a little inbreeding. Harvey J Satan (talk) 07:44, 10 January 2012 (UTC)
- Or that Morticia calls him "Uncle Fester" because he's part of the extended family. Wastrel Way (talk) 18:11, 11 June 2020 (UTC) Eric
- Agreed. Many married couples refer to , say, their spouse’s parents , as “mom” or “dad”. ( Usually for resulting comic double-takes or as irritations in old sitcoms.) Charles Addams sense of humor definitely wasn’t beyond making inbreeding jokes - but - at the time, the writers were probably very cautious about such suggestions, in a “family friendly” television show. When given a full name, Fester is always “Fester Addams”, and constantly takes pride in other Addams relatives from history. ( This would also make him and Grandmama siblings … but , that’s another can of worms … ) 75.106.32.81 (talk) 02:43, 21 April 2024 (UTC)
Image of regular cast
[edit]There is at present only one image of the regular cast in the article (seen here) and various IP-editors have recently been removing it. In my opinion it should be left in the article since it illustrates the entire regular cast (with the exception of the humanoid "Thing"). Shearonink (talk) 16:36, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
Requested move
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: move the page, per the discussion below. Dekimasuよ! 03:51, 23 October 2014 (UTC)
The Addams Family (TV series) → The Addams Family (1964 TV series) – The Addams Family (1992 animated series) and The Addams Family (1973 animated series) were also TV series, and therefore the current title fails WP:PRECISE. The current title should be retargeted to The Addams Family (disambiguation)#Television after the move. Armbrust The Homunculus 08:02, 28 September 2014 (UTC)
- Agree in principle but isn't The Addams Family (live-action series) better since the other disambiguators have the word "animated" in it? Timmyshin (talk) 10:47, 28 September 2014 (UTC)
- Support - per WP:NCF, oppose [The Addams Family (live-action series)] In ictu oculi (talk) 16:00, 28 September 2014 (UTC)
- Support either the alternate or the original proposal is fine. -- 65.94.171.225 (talk) 06:24, 29 September 2014 (UTC)
- Oppose - WP:PDAB is not currently a guideline or policy. After the mess I made on Thriller (album), perhaps I should re-propose Michael Jackson album to be "Thriller (album)" again. Actually, the current title fits for the original 1964 live-action series, although it was short-lived, like its successors. When people say or think "The Addams Family", I hope people refer to the very old black-and-white series, shown on reruns occasionally. Extra disambiguation is not necessary for primary topic of "The Addams Family (TV series)". --Gh87 in the public computer (talk) 20:42, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
- WP:PRECISE is policy Precision – The title is sufficiently precise to unambiguously identify the article's subject and distinguish it from other subjects -- 65.94.171.225 (talk) 05:19, 2 October 2014 (UTC)
- Oppose; there is one primary TV series by this name. I see no evidence that readers would expect any animated series at this title. bd2412 T 18:50, 15 October 2014 (UTC)
- Once there's a parenthetical disambiguator, it's pretty silly to talk about the primary topic at the disambiguator, which is why WP:PRECISE is relevant. —innotata 06:52, 18 October 2014 (UTC)
- Support since there's a parenthetical disambiguator, it ought to disambiguate the topic fully. "1964 TV series" sounds fine, but I have no objection to using "live-action". —innotata 06:52, 18 October 2014 (UTC)

David Levy
[edit]I've proposed creation of an article at David Levy (producer) to cover the creator of this show, I've never used WP:RA before so we'll see how it goes. Don't have time to make a stub myself right now but I'll probably get back to it someday, God willing.
Also posted a heads-up at Talk:David Levy, not sure where the best place is to discuss but probably here, as I said I've never used WP:RA before. Andrewa (talk) 20:56, 23 December 2017 (UTC)
