Terrible editing, sourcing, etc.

[edit]

I'm sorry but whoever has edited this article has done a terrible job of it. She has NOT yet debuted on NXT television - her official debut will air Nov 29th. Her appearances for ECCW were live events and should not be classed as 'episodes'. They were not aired on television. Same as her FCW/NXT live event matches. You also don't need to list every single independent appearance she's made ever - it makes the article far too long. She also had signature/finishing moves listed twice. The nicknames listed for her are also not nicknames she uses in-ring - just things on her NXT profile describing her. 121.222.229.30 (talk) 22:07, 26 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Your edities have been revertied and redo to a newer version. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.87.3.114 (talk) 03:21, 15 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I don't understand why you did this as the edits you reverted to are the terrible versions and should be reverted back to the ones I made. As previously stated, the older ones listed every independent appearance she made ever, listed them all as "episodes" as though any of them were broadcasted on television (they weren't), added incorrect nicknames for her, duplicated move names, amongst many other errors. Please revert back to the edits that I made previously. 121.222.229.30 (talk) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 123.211.2.176 (talk) 21:20, 17 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Reverting edits again because I changed it to where it doesn't say episodes. The information I put have great sources so don't delete. I duplicated some moves becuase she performed those moves under both ring names and some she does diffrently.--98.87.12.88 (talk) 03:28, 1 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

They might have great sources but it's all unnecessary information. 1) The Prairie Wrestling Alliance stuff is useless. 2) Instead of being listed as "episodes", everything is now listed as "editions" - this is also wrong. All her independent work bar SHIMMER tapings is just live events. 3) You also have too much information listed in the ECCW section - it's, again, unnecessary and untidy. We don't need to read about every time she wrestled, just the significant events. 4) The NXT stuff is still listed as episodes - she didn't debuted on TV until November 2012. Anything prior was at a live event or house show. 5) The personal life section should also be deleted, the fact that she was introduced to wrestling by her brother is already referenced in the Early Career and Training section. 6) Moves should not be duplicated. Running corner splash remains the same and should only be listed once. Same with the bridging Indian deathlock. Put it all under Emma. Also I doubt anyone on Wikipedia even saw her wrestle under her alias Tenille Williams so why bother listing it as one of the names she performed signature moves under? Tenille Tayla by itself is fine. 101.162.81.39 (talk) 22:45, 14 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in Tenille Dashwood

[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Tenille Dashwood's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 05:31, 15 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Move to "Emma (wrestler)"

[edit]

I moved due to WP:COMMONNAME. She has debuted on the main roster as "Emma". 65 results for 'emma nxt' in Google News, but Tenille Dashwood only had 1 result. "Tenille Dashwood" has 15,200 Google Search results. 'emma WWE NXT' has 484,000 results. starship.paint (talk | ctrb) 09:40, 9 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Gotta be more careful about seemingly wrong informations with bad intent

[edit]

Just saw that there was since months a smear in the article, that was never mentioned in the source (fake). Funnily enough, it seems it came from one account, that only made edits in that direction, see his edits (had to laugh a bit though, that was certainly strange, with it all focused on one subject about a distanced relationship, if it was not a bad troll we can have an idea who the person behind that account for the smear was). --Casra (talk) 04:48, 8 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Emma started the revolution comment

[edit]

"On October 29, 2017, WWE announced that Emma had been released from her WWE contract which is quiet insultig considering she started the womens revolution #justiceforemma.[106]" This comment is obeying with the Wikipedia rules and will be included in the Emma(wrestler) Wikipedia page were she was released of her contract. — Preceding unsigned comment added by BusriderSF2015 (talkcontribs)

It seems more someone's personal opinion than something fit for the article. Jarkeld (talk) 00:22, 30 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Emma (wrestler)Tenille Dashwood I agree with User:Davey2010 that the page name should be Tenille Dashwood. It is her real name, it is her name in the major promotion Ring of Honor and she is currently widely featured under that name in the major wrestling media (for example Observer https://www.f4wonline.com/ring-honor/roh-adds-tenille-dashwood-women-honor-title-tournament-251481 and SBNation https://www.cagesideseats.com/2018/2/14/17013654/watch-tenille-dashwood-ring-of-honor-debut-match-women-emma-mandy-leon-kelly-klein ). Since WWE trademarks names and treads them independent from the wrestlers (they can give the names to any performer), she is legally not connected to that name and will likely also not perform under that name in the near future. --Casra (talk) 17:52, 15 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support - After moving the article back to "Emma (wrestler)" I noticed the name in the article had already been changed to Tenille so I moved it back as I thought it was pointless as well as confusing to have the article title as "Emma" and the content in "Tenille", COMMONNAME isn't entirely relevent because she only goes by one name (IE Emma), If she went by something like "Emma Dashwood" then yeah I'd disagree with moving but she doesn't .... I personally think it's more confusing to have it as "Emma" so IMHO should be moved. –Davey2010Talk 17:58, 15 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. We discussed recently a similar aspect in Edge article. Emma is the common name, no matter if she works now as Tenille. Se worked for years in a mainstream, worldwide level as Emma. It doesn't change because she worked a few dates as Tenille. ROH is a major promotion, but there is too far away from WWE. In fact, a few dates doesn't change the fact of she wrestler years as Emma (example, Rockstar Spud appeared in WWE and we didn't change the name). We have a lot of other examples, like Chris Masters, Mark Jindrak, Rockstar Spud. her commonname is Emma, not Tenille Dashwood. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 21:55, 15 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose, she may be going by her real name on the indys, but that's no different from lots of guys who have been released (See Jack Swagger and Simon Gotch.) A move would only be relevant if she was known by this name at a higher level than that of WWE (Say with a movie release, or she was an athlete), or she was commonly known by both names with her time in the WWE. She was known as Emma for many years, and it the common name. The argument about the character being trademarked by the WWE is a good one, and is true; but it's not how common name works. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 09:29, 16 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I agree to the point that she had in WWE historically the most exposure. We run there into the trademark-problem, that these trademark names are often not affiliated to the portrayed person, but the organisation. But in the sense of common-name rule imo we should still use the wwetrademark-name if the person is him/herself using it (this is the case about Edge, for example "Edge and Christian-podcast", and about Jack Swagger after WWE) or if a person after the WWE career had no/rarely relevant activities. In that case the person is commonly known just under that trademark. Both is not the case about Tenille Dashwood + she is featured in relevant media like the Observer under her real name and the current situation should apply for a still active athlete. No problem if we are divided on this matter, maybe it is too early to change yet. But if her post-WWE career continues in a similar way (her Roh-debut got widely featured and she is a prominent part in rather big independent promotions; Pat Buck for example said on his podcast that the event with Dashwood in the main event was the most visited in the history of his current WrestlePro promotion) we should imo think about moving the page in the future. --Casra (talk) 18:00, 16 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Jack Swagger does not wrestle under the name Jack Swagger anymore, rather Jake Hager. This is simply not how professional wrestling articles work. I could name you tens of articles of wrestler's that are named after their WWE name, rather than that of those that are currently being used. Justin Gabriel, for example wrestles as PJ Black (And has done so for a long time), Eugene (wrestler), who wrestles as U-Gene, or Nick Dinsmore, John Morrison (wrestler), who's had about a billion names. Generally, pro wrestler articles only change names when they have received fame under a new title, such as if Emma returned to the WWE, and was then doing a different gimmick. WrestlePro having a big show means literally nothing in comparrison to her WWE run. (And I'd argue that it counts for very little at all). The only people who generally get name changes to their real names, are people like Scott Hall, and Kevin Nash, who not only wrestled by their real names, they did so in worldwide promotions, and for a period of longer than than that of their characters. They also experienced the issues you raised regarding not owning the copyright and having other people use these characters. However, this is so incredibly rare (Apart from this instance, only masked characters have ever been used like this) it's not worth mentioning until the gimmick is passed on. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 09:51, 19 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose, her five years as "Emma" in WWE outweigh her appearances elsewhere in terms of mind share. McPhail (talk) 21:51, 16 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose, It's easy to see that her common name is by far still just "Emma".★Trekker (talk) 02:32, 17 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Strongly Oppose - Despite the fact that she is no longer working for WWE and using the name due to trademarking, she is still best known by far by the name "Emma". Very few people would even know her real name at present. She would have to gain a major level of coverage for this move to be made and Tenille Dashwood is nowhere near that. FWIW this is a poorly informed request to the point that it should be speedily rejected. 101.189.132.146 (talk) 06:05, 17 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. ROH may be a national promotion with an increasingly higher profile, but five years with the most prominent company on the planet is still more recognizable than one Set of tapings with the up-and-comer. oknazevad (talk) 19:27, 17 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Was there a general wrestler name discussion on the English Wikipedia in this regard to relate on and discuss it? Imho there should be a clear distinction between retired and active athletes. For retired athletes I agree with the arguments, we can simply look back and choose the name during the most significant "era". But for an active athlete (as long as with still relevant activities of course, which is here the case) the current name should apply as common, because most people will search for the current person, media reports with the current name and also databases on the web use current names of active athletes (wikipedia is here the exception, which I see as additionally problematic in case of WWE since these names are often trademarks of the company, not of the persons). --Casra (talk) 01:05, 18 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Here's the true guide. When you see a picture of her, who do you see? Common response; Emma. Rare response (for now); Tenille. The arguments made apply just as much to this because the vast majority of sources refer to her as Emma - even in the past tense in order to identify her. I think some posters of her wrestling on shows since the beginning of February even mentioned the name Emma just to ID her to fans. It says plenty. 101.189.132.146 (talk) 09:41, 18 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Strongly Oppose We know Tenille better as Emma, she's wrestled as Emma since 2012 and she has become better known as Emma from there on. This is the same as the current 205 Live GM Drake Maverick being better known worldwide as Rockstar Spud for the same reason as above (you see a picture of him, the first thing that comes to mind: Common response; Spud. Rare response (for now); Maverick.) That's the same as renaming Kane to Glenn Jacobs, because we know him better as Kane...or renaming Chris Jericho to each and every one of his ring names within each change when we know him a lot better as Jericho. So, I'm with the contributor with above me. Hansen Sebastian 15:14, 20 February 2018 (UTC)

Smackdown

[edit]

It was deleted that Dashwood has been active on Smackdown, but Emma was definitely wrestling on Smackdown too. See for example 2016: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VjsbX8GJBKA (this was before the split). --Casra (talk) 17:43, 29 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

She was active on Smackdown, but as you said, it wasn't a specific brand when she was on it. --wL<speak·check> 21:00, 30 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I see, np - I will let the "brand" out to be safe and will link to the Smackdown TV program instead. --Casra (talk) 21:48, 2 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Emma (wrestler)Tenille Dashwood - Since 2017, she has wrestled under her real name in big promotions like ROH and Impact. I think it's the WP:COMMONNAME as well as the current name. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 11:44, 11 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. WWE is of course the biggest wrestling promotion, but since she still wrestles for major promotions she is since a while in media commonly referred as Tenille Dashwood. --Casra (talk) 12:18, 16 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
