Add new language
[edit]Can you add Thai language for this articles? PhilTheGreatLOL (talk) 05:22, 16 September 2024 (UTC)
- @PhilTheGreatLOL: I see there is now a Thai language article for this. There ought to be a better way to request a translation than posting on the article talk page. Pages like WP:Translation and WP:Translate us talk about translating articles to English and from English respectively, but the latter seems aimed at people who are interested in performing translations. For future reference, if you want to request a translation into a particular language you'd probably be best off looking for the target language in the language links on WP:Translation. — Smjg (talk) 19:45, 22 October 2024 (UTC)
So many attempted edits by company shills!
[edit]It's disgusting to see SO many edits being attempted (and sometimes approved!) by Temu agents on this page. It's good that some of you at least claim your conflict of interest, but come on. someone paying you to modify the content of a neutral information page violates the very purpose of Wikipedia's existence. I agree with Grayfell. This has to stop. 2405:DA40:437F:2700:9D7A:6164:2B4F:5D1E (talk) 01:40, 24 September 2024 (UTC)
Changing the Pronounciation of "Temu"
[edit]Hello, fellow Wikipedians! I have a suggestion to change the pronounciation of "Temu" from "Tee-moo" to "Teh-moo" like it is in the ads. I mean, I don't really like pronouncing it "Teh-moo", but it wouldn't really hurt to be accurate. The Master of Hedgehogs (converse) (hedgehogs) 11:18, 3 February 2025 (UTC)
- Example of these ads? Off-topic: "Teh-moo" makes so much more sense, phonetically. If they wanted it pronounced "Tee-moo", than they could've just included the extra E. Mac Dreamstate (talk) 18:36, 3 February 2025 (UTC)
- Temu's Super Bowl ad from 2024 pronounces Temu as "teh-moo". The Master of Hedgehogs (converse) (hedgehogs) 17:03, 4 February 2025 (UTC)
- @Paul2520: You added the File:En-us-Temu.oga pronunciation clip, which uses "tee-moo". Is this based on a reliable source? It definitely contradicts the jingle used in the commercial. 162 etc. (talk) 18:14, 4 February 2025 (UTC)
- I'm guessing I just based it off the IPA + respelling. I would be happy to record a new version if The Master of Hedgehogs' suggested change is made. = paul2520 💬 18:18, 4 February 2025 (UTC)
- That respell was added by User:Mac Dreamstate, based on this CNBC news clip which uses "tee-moo". So, we have clips using both pronunciations. 162 etc. (talk) 18:23, 4 February 2025 (UTC)
- Would make more sense to go with Temu's own advertising material over the secondary CNBC source. I can't see how that would go against WP:PRIMARY, since it's they themselves using the "Teh-moo" pronunciation. I tried looking for interviews with key personnel, but found none at the time. Mac Dreamstate (talk) 19:00, 4 February 2025 (UTC)
- See this article. According to this, the company has made the change from "tee-moo" to "teh-moo". 162 etc. (talk) 20:35, 4 February 2025 (UTC)
- @162 etc., Mac Dreamstate, and The Master of Hedgehogs: I recorded File:En-us-Temu2.oga. = paul2520 💬 20:39, 4 February 2025 (UTC)
