[edit]This article could be improved a lot... not sure where to find good sources, though. I question a few things in the article. First, it says he suffered from clinical depression - but the longer the time after his suicide, the more Kenneth has started to publically talk about his brother as schizophrenic instead. Obviously he heard voices etc. The last sentence - sure, he was involved in a cult during a period of his life but as far as I know that was long bofore his suicide - after his cult period it got apparent he was not well. // Habj 15:59, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
Clinical Depression??
[edit]From my undestanding, the symptoms that Gärdestad experienced ressembled schizofrenia rather than clinical depression even though I am almost positive that he never got a definite diagnosis. I suggest that we change clinical depression to severe mental problems. --Warfvinge 12:15, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
Suicide or just unethical journalism?
[edit]Gärdestad was hit by a train when walking on a train track near where he lived. At the time, he was on heavy medication, and many relatives have argued that it was a lot more likely that he simply didn't notice the train, than that he would have committed suicide, given that he hadn't shown suicidal behaviour before, and didn't leave any suicide notes or anything similar behind.
And worst of all, the Swedish tabloid journalist Oisin Cantwell has said in an interview in Dagens Nyheter, much later, that he spent several hours trying to get at least one relative to go on record that it was surely a suicide, to make sure his paper could publish the name the same day (Swedish media are a lot more careful with names than their US counterparts; if the reason for the accident had been unclear, they could probably not have printed the name until later).
Cantwell described the fact that that Gärdestad's brother finally caved in after two hours of constant barrage as the biggest thing in his journalistic career.
Others may disagree. - 85.119.130.132 09:11, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
- Kenneth is convinced it was suicide, he has told so in several interviews. Ted's death is generally considered suicide - but of course, no one will ever be 100% sure. // habj 13:56, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
Tennis
[edit]He was also a promising junior tennis player, but as he played in the same club as Björn Borg and juniors weren't allowed to change clubs he got tired of being the constand number two so he quit. // Liftarn
Team Gärdestad
[edit]It should be mentioned somewhere that all of his songs were collaborations with Ted as the composer and his brother Kenneth as the lyricist. Does this belong in the lead? Bo Lindbergh 19:06, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

New picture in infobox
[edit]When I fixed up the article about Cal Massey, I learned the hard way that it is not ok to use an album cover as photo of the subject of a biography. See this discussion. Not wanting to repeat that mistake I uploaded a new pic of Ted under fair use and put it in the infobox. w.carter-Talk 22:33, 8 April 2016 (UTC)
Automatic suggestions
[edit]The following suggestions were generated by a semi-automatic javascript program, and might not be applicable for the article in question.
- Please expand the lead to conform with guidelines at Wikipedia:Lead. The article should have an appropriate number of paragraphs as is shown on WP:LEAD, and should adequately summarize the article.[?]
- Per WP:WIAFA, this article's table of contents (ToC) may be too long – consider shrinking it down by merging short sections or using a proper system of daughter pages as per Wikipedia:Summary style.[?]
- Watch for redundancies that make the article too wordy instead of being crisp and concise. (You may wish to try Tony1's redundancy exercises.)
- Vague terms of size often are unnecessary and redundant - “some”, “a variety/number/majority of”, “several”, “a few”, “many”, “any”, and “all”. For example, “
Allpigs are pink, so we thought ofa number ofways to turn them green.”

Signerat Peter Nordahl
[edit]A paragraph about Ted Gardestad's posthumous album "Signerat Peter Nordahl" featuring Peter Nordahl as conductor would be worth placing on the Legacy section of the article. Misterpither (talk) 22:00, 3 March 2018 (UTC)
