In the opening section of this article it is stated that the accident "had far-reaching effects for British Rail". Not wishing to belittle 12 deaths, what far reaching effects did this accident have on BR?
Issuing an instruction clarifying that the doors were not to be locked was only reinforcing what was in the rules already and should have been done.
