Berkshire Music Center

[edit]

There is no article for the Berkshire Music Center, most likely because it is now called Tanglewood. (see [1]) However, since there ARE references (eg, Randall Thompson) to the Berkshire Music Center, perhaps a sentence or two could be added to this article concerning Tanglewood's history in re:its name. Then someone who knows how to do that (not THIS newbie!) could "redirect" searches for Berkshire Music Center to this article.

Hmmm... that still wouldn't change the red link, would it? Would it be appropriate to turn it into a piped link to Tanglewood? Thanks for your patience with a Newbie! Laurie Fox 00:08, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Berkshire Music Center now redirects here. I would add something about it in the article but I don't know anything about it: when the name change happened, when the name was originally used. -- Stbalbach 13:52, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, it should redirect to Tanglewood Music Center, which mentions the prior name. -- Stbalbach 13:56, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it should redirect to Tanglewood Music Center. Thanks for making that change! Dartgirl 10 May 2013 —Preceding undated comment added 16:26, 10 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Bernstein

[edit]

Leonard Bernstein gave his last concert here. I think this is notable enough to insert that fact into the article. --77.4.59.155 (talk) 16:50, 31 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Opera

[edit]

Is it really appropriate for this article to be under WikiProject Opera? They do perform staged and unstaged operas at Tanglewood, but the venue is by no means exclusive to those productions: this is not an Opera house. Wouldn't this article be better placed under the more general Classical Music WikiProject? Titus.jon (talk) 02:47, 25 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed merge with Tanglewood Music Center

[edit]

The article "Tanglewood" is entirely about the music center. some of the information on the derivation of the name should be merged--the remainder is just a much less complete duplicate of the TMC article. I just read the Tanglewood article and I disagree. It is appropriately about the venue and estate of Tanglewood. The Tanglewood Music Center is a summer program run by the Boston Symphony Orchestra that takes plate at Tanglewood. It is not the same thing. I disagree with this merger suggestion. ~~Dartgirl~~ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dartgirl (talkcontribs) 16:24, 10 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Given the lack of support over 3.5years, I'm closing the proposal. Klbrain (talk) 19:10, 4 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

– The music center is not the clear primary topic for "Tanglewood", nor is there a primary topic at all. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 20:35, 18 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I wouldn't say that is accurate. According to the article, Tanglewood Music Center is an "annual summer music academy" where the students are housed at Miss Hall's School. Tanglewood is a complex including several buildings, but it is not a town or designated place, so the parentheses would be the way to go. 162 etc. (talk) 15:30, 19 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Support. Tanglewood has multiple meanings, and no primary topic, so Tanglewood should be the disambiguation page, and Tanglewood (Massachussetts) the preferred listing for the venue. Mburrell (talk) 19:56, 19 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
