Quotation

[edit]

But Swedenborg replied (somewhat ironically) with a quote by French author Fontenelle:

The art of flying is hardly yet born. It will be perfected and some day people will fly ...

What is ironic about Swedenborg quoting someone who shares his view?

Influence - a contradiciton

[edit]

The article currently contradicts itself.

One the one hand, it says that Swedenborg carried more influence than Da Vinci because the latter's work was not rediscovered until much later (1797, as it happens).

On the other hand, it says that Swedenborg's design remained obscure until it was rediscovered in "1867-68" whatever that means.

Note that Swedenborg's ms was rediscovered after da Vinci's. So, how could it have been "more influential" during the intervening years?
