I’ve been trying to adjust the issues with this article posted last week, and I would like help particularly with the orphan article and linking issues, but welcome any suggestions for these issues. CuriousSunflower24 (talk) 16:43, 12 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hi @CuriousSunflower24: if I may say, the most substantive issue (by far) with this article is that it does not demonstrate that the person is notable, and my advice would be to focus on that as a priority. The sources are mostly primary, and therefore cannot establish notability per the general notability guideline WP:GNG. I don't see anything in there that would satisfy any of the special notability guidelines (WP:NACADEMIC, WP:NPOL, etc.), either.
- In fact, I'd say that when New Page Patrol comes across this article, there's a chance they may start deletion proceedings. To avoid that, I can move this into the draft space for you, where you can continue working on it safely, and then submit it for review through the AfC process, if you'd like?
- Sorry, I realise that doesn't actually answer your question in any way! :) -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 17:34, 12 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hi!
- Thank you for replying! I've spent some time working on the sources and trying to make sure that I could replace them if necessary, and I'm almost certain the ones I have currently included here meet the guidelines. Could you give me feedback on the ones now, or just even tips on how to be certain about the ones to include?
- Thank you again! CuriousSunflower24 (talk) 17:21, 13 November 2024 (UTC)
- @CuriousSunflower24: you first need to consider by which route you're aiming to demonstrate notability. If it's by WP:GNG, then we need to see multiple (3+) secondary sources that are reliable and independent (of the subject, and of each other), and provide significant coverage of her. Note that each source on which you're relying to establish notability must meet each aspect of this standard (in other words, it's not enough that some sources are secondary, while some others provide significant coverage, etc.). None of the sources currently cited (with the possible exception of the Tribune piece, which I cannot verify as it isn't available to view here in Europe) meets this standard. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 17:36, 13 November 2024 (UTC)
Orphan Article Issue Resolution?
[edit]As Dr. McKinney is on the Board of the Atomic Scientists and co authored the last article moving the doomsday clock, I edited that page and linked the two pages. CuriousSunflower24 (talk) 18:42, 12 November 2024 (UTC)
