Supreme leader → Supreme Leader (title) –. The primary use of the phrase "supreme leader" is Supreme Leader of Iran, and so this title should redirect there and so this page needs to be moved. This is being discussed as part of the discussion about where Supreme Leader (note capital) should redirect, so please comment at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2012 August 24#Supreme Leader rather than here. Usage of the term

Although Emperor Hirohito held supreme power over Japan, is there any evidence that the term 'Supreme leader' (or a Japanese equivalent), as opposed to 'Emperor', was actually used to describe him? --jftsang 11:21, 20 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Sources for Post–Cold War era section

Sources are particularly important. The current Needs additional citations at the top of the article is there for a reason. Its particularly important for more recent entries. On that basic I've done a prune through the existing entries on the Post–Cold War era. If its had a pre-existing cite I've left the entry (there was one). For the remainder I chose to

Removed if no apparent source in the linked article or possibly not really sure matched the article list criteria.
If a possibly viable citation existed in the winklinked article brought it forward as a citation.
for the two North Korean leaders there looked as though I could probably bring forward citations but I leave that for others and I've left it as citation needed as I don't want to uplift the wrong one and tread on anyones toes.

I am neutral as to whether anyone should be in or out of this list and happy to go with consensus. I just want there to be citations to stop abuse. (We removed one with lots of citations a while back and we should likely be equally or moreso hard when people are not using sources. @87.18.64.165 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) Thankyou for coming back here. Unfortunately the google searches you suggest are too wide. I need one or more specific sources dpecified. We need a specific web page or book page that indicates "supreme leader". It needs to indicate that in some way that title was more than ceremonial ... More that the leader actually exercised supreme domination over his subjects without being held to account. If you can point me at a specific webpage or book page location where this is indicated we would hope we might be able to assist you add the content, though I do not guarentee it. I realise this is more stringent than has been exercised previously. See the existing items in the "References" section to see what we are looking for. Thankyou. Sourcing and significance

While I have to concede to @My very best wishes opinion on [1] this really is the exception to the rule that a source is required. The supreme leader must also have a really significant impact on the nation from a global viewpoint. I had managed to get all post war with everything in the list sourced, now without that keeping some ongoing surveilance on this page descending into anarchy will become much more difficult. That said if anyone strongly disagrees with a reversion then I ask they discuss here and go to dispute resolution process if necessary. THankyou.Djm-leighpark (talk) 18:38, 29 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, this whole page is poorly sourced. I could not find a strong source that describes "supreme leader" as a general subject which would be applicable to such and such leaders [citation]. Can you or someone else find it? There are general sources on personality cults, but this is probably not the same? Or is it exactly the same [sources]? I do not think Narendra Modi (India) should be on the list. The sources being cited are also very well anti-Modi and extreme left. He is a democratically elected leader with an overwhelming majority. India's electorate system is very robust and it is just very biased to think he is an autocratic leader just because he does not subscribe to the liberal/left rhetoric.
