Unkown number of minigames?

UK mag NGamer report that only 30 to 40 minigames will make it to the final game. The "over" 100 figure comes from the amount of ideas they have. As for stages, there are 100 traditional puzzle boards and 200 challenge stages.--BGBW 14:48, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Baby's Visor

The trivia claims it is unknown why he has the visor, however in the recent issue of the UK magazine NGamer there's an article about this game. The 50 Mini-games

According to IGN[1], every day from Monday to friday up until the game's release, they will announced/unveil a new mini-game from Super Monkey Ball: B.B. Soon, we may be able to find out what they all are. (knuckles_sonic8)

2 Sega Mascots

Also...somehow this article missed out the mention of 2 popular (though yet to be announced) Sega Mascots whom were in the Playable Demo in Leipzig. I've added a link to the article, but I don't know how to add references (as in the little box with a number on it), so if someone could tidy that up it'd be great.

Actually, they have been confirmed. Their names are "Doctor" and "YanYan". Unless I'm mistaken, those are the two being referred to in the article, so I removed it. Knuckles sonic8 02:11, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Doctor and Yan Yan are definitely not Sega Mascots. By this they're hinting at someone like Sonic, Tails, NiGHTS, or any other Sega Mascot that wouldn't look too out of place in this game.

If it's not in the final version of the game and is a leipzig exclusive then fair enough, but this information is definitely relevant to the Rumours/ Trivia bit, you have to agree.

Also IGN put up a video of Simon Says (I'd add the info but I'd rather know how to add references/ sources to it and I don't know how to do it properly).

No problem dude, and yeah it should be interesting, I just hope it's part of the final game and not just some novelty they chucked in for the Press. I think there's a high chance it will be in the final game though. Also, the source still needs to be tidied up, I just posted the link, I don't know how you do those reference things were you add them as a little numbered square and have them all listed in the references at the bottom. There's a vid on IGN you should look at. It's called "Opening Levels". After viewing it, at about "00:36", you'll see the Character Select screen. There are four other circles that could be for characters! New Mini-game: Simon Says

Also...I was just on the official Sega SMB:BB site) and under the features section and under Party Games it says "50 new party games like Whack-a-mole, Ring toss, and Spaceship landing will keep the party going for hours!" The main thing to note is "Spaceship Landing" as Ring Toss and Whack-a-Mole are already announced and on the wiki page. Kermit1986

"Media DVD-ROM"

Cobalt Caverns

The article here says Cobalt Caverns is an underwater cave. This is untrue; Cobalt Caverns is a stage littered by hallucinogenic mushrooms and themed on surrealism. The blurry blue backround you see in the Course Select is designed to stand out from the glowing bright neon colors of the stages. Ron Stoppable 09:29, 23 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It has none. The manual doesn't say anything about the stages themselves (only that a Main Game exists and that you take the monkey to the goal); the in-game stage select screen for the Main Game only tells you it's called "Cobalt Caverns" and shows you the washed-out blue background; there are no cutscenes for any world except Monkey Island (and probably Space Case). I didn't find out myself until I reached that world. I can try taking pictures of the TV screen on one of those stages, though I'll probably be without a camera until about two weeks from now.
Looking at the backgrounds themselves though, I'll bet IGN's 2-hour run ended at Smooth Sherbet. Every description beyond that can be inferred from the backgrounds shown during stage select. Sweet! Congrats. I heard that stage is pretty difficult. I never watched IGN's 2-hour run so I wouldn't know. Is it recent? On the note of the manual, know where I could find scans of it? Well, the difficulty ramps up at Smooth Sherbet, and it starts to get insane at Cobalt Caverns. After that, the curve is among the steepest I've ever seen. I haven't seen IGN's run either (do they actually have a video of it?), though in all honesty, Cobalt Caverns is the only world whose motif isn't obvious from the background.
I also have a correction to make: It's probably not themed on hallucinogenic mushrooms, but bioluminescent mushrooms. The colors suggest so. It could be both though. After going through Cobalt Caverns some more though, I found out the ceiling of the cave has a weird pattern to it, which looks much like chains of algae. Below the stages is an underground river fowing through the bottom of the caverns, dispelling the idea that this takes place underwater. I won't be able to take pictures until next week though.
I don't have the manual with me right now, but it really doesn't say much except short character profiles, short descriptions of the modes, and the controls. I'll see what I can do next week, when I'm reunited with my Wii and games. Ron Stoppable 11:45, 27 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, at least I've been able to find a YouTube video that seems to take place in Cobalt Caverns. It's the UFO mini-game, but the glowing mushrooms are certainly there. By the way, what are the designated names for each of the modes? Could you give details on each - not the 50 mini-games per se. I'm also curious with regards to the story. I know Bad-Boon is the boss for Space Case but I don't know how he fits into the story. Anything else I'd appreciate and could potentially add it/them to the article. The Main Game really only has one mode--the Main Game. There's no Challenge Mode, multiplayer or not, though there's a Practice Mode. This game has pretty much been stripped down to its simplest; there's really very little to describe outside of the mini-games, which I don't care about so much.

Also, from what I've seen, the boss of Space Case is NOT Dr. Bad-Boon. He doesn't resemble the bad Doc at all, he doesn't say a word, and he's absolutely enormous, easily ten times the size of Aiai and company. (Also, Sinking Swamp and Ultra Heaven have no bosses.)

The boss of Jumble Jungle would probably be far closer to Dr. Bad-Boon, green skin aside. He has the lab coat and technologically-oriented equipment. (I don't think it's Bad-Boon though.) Of course, this means he isn't the "robot" the article describes; the screenshots demonstrate he has a lot of organic-looking features. In addition, when he's defeated, he just collapses onto the middle of the arena; only his jetpack breaks. He might be a cyborg, but in my opinion, I think he's just a mad scientist/geek, armed with cannons attached to his hands and a jetpack on his back. Ron Stoppable 04:08, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Think about it? Monkey Ball had 6; Monkey Ball had 12; Monkey Ball Deluxe had 12; Super Monkey Ball Adventure had 6 as well; Junior had 5; Touch and Roll had 6 -> all totals 47 in comparison to this, which has 50 in one. Well he was stated to be unlockable on GameFAQS and the user that "claimed" this said he/she was going to provide a video but as it stands, it's quite possible that it could not be true but it could be true also so it's hard to say... as a matter of fact, I'm gonna go check now and see if there's anything new on this. Heh, the last source describes it as "simply." After the first world, nothing is simple in Monkey Ball. I'll attempt this anyway...but only after I've cleared every stage, which may take a great deal of time itself. (Also, the name "Grandpa" is seven letters long and doesn't fit into the "Name Entry," though that rule can be bypassed since his name never shows up there.) Removing 1 Citation Tag

I am going to remove the citation tag on the following line. "Players are able to save a total of 30 replays of any of the stages played throughout Story and Practice Mode on their Wii, according to the official manual." In the manual it reads the following: "Save Replay (Main Game Only) Allows you to save the gameplay of the stage you just completed. This can be accessed after you go through the Goal Gate, fall out, or run out of time. You can save up to 30 replays. Note: A caustion message will be displayed if you do not have enough memory space remaining."

Boss Section
