Isn't it 2 minutes 17 seconds? --Metal of Head 23:09, 20 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Metallica's version is. Queen's version is slightly shorter. --Tim, 16 November, 2008. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.68.63.99 (talk) 15:36, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Genre

[edit]

I really don't see how is this song "Thrash Metal", it's barely Heavy Metal... It's Hard Rock (As the list '"Top 100 Hard Rock Songs" by VH1' says) and it's speedy... But since there is no such thing as "Speed Rock" and there's not a big difference between Hard Rock and Heavy Metal, Speed Metal may fit. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.108.249.67 (talk) 19:26, 12 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I am fine with either "heavy metal" or "speed metal". VH1 considers "The Beautiful People" by Manson and "Heaven and Hell" by Black Sabbath and "Peace Sells" by Megadeth to be hard rock, when they are all heavy metal. Not a reliable source. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.56.53.55 (talk) 00:48, 21 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It's Heavy Metal by the standards of the day, don't forget music evolves over time. And I wouldn't go for a song's genre based on a list, as lists tend to use generic terms such as "hard rock" or "heavy rock" to include a wider range of songs. Heavy Metal does tend to be faster at times, the guitars are much more distorted with more bass range on the amplifiers, with the bass guitar often serving to enhance the lead guitar parts rather than playing a riff of their own or root notes of the chords as in hard rock. The vocals also tend to be harsher and the lyrics simpler, more often than not now using techniques such as screaming, shouting or vocal belting, like Chris Cornell. So there are significant differences in the musicality of the two genres. By the standards of the 1970's, this song definately qualifies as Heavy Metal. 82.28.237.200 (talk) 22:24, 11 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

How the heck is this regular rock? This should be either hard rock, or heavy metal or both. Rock is something way softer like 80s Genesis or Foreigner. This is straight up heavy rock.108.81.33.59 (talk) 02:47, 12 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Quit changing the genre to rock! That's incorrect!108.81.33.59 (talk) 18:12, 7 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The long-standing consensus at Wikiproject Queen is that Rock is the only genre that should be in the infobox; musical styles can be discussed at more length in the article body. You will likely be blocked if you continue to change the genre. Radiopathy •talk• 01:39, 8 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
What long-standing consensus? Why is it just regular rock if it's incorrect? It's been cited many times as the first thrash metal song by Rolling Stone, Q etc. This is way heavier than something that IS regular plain rock like Foreigner, Kansas, Toto etc. 108.81.33.59 (talk) 18:46, 8 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It's heavier than mainstream rock, but putting it in the same category as bands like Slayer or Kreator seems a bit of a stretch. Also just because mainstream media outlets say something doesn't mean that it is. They generally have less understanding views on music. Yungstirjoey666 (talk) 22:47, 15 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
