I've never heard about such a requirement and I would have if it was since I'm active on the Categories Project.
Greenberg's Jewishness comes from the fact that his father and mother are both Jewish. Its implied just through that. He is a secular Jew otherwise and doesn't talk about it much which is his right. Omnis Scientia (talk) 09:06, 29 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi! I initially found the connection through Baseball Reference. There's not much else online but his participation is briefly mentioned in this edition of the Yale Daily News from September 15, 1969 (shortly after the tournament ended). Also mentioned here (with the correct spelling) in the edition from the 17th. Unfortunately there's not much English-language coverage of the Amateur World Series before the 70s/80s but there may be more info in the Yale paper if you keep digging.
