What Is Considered Long Island?
[edit]There's the island of Long Island, and then there's "Long Island," as in the part of the island that is only Nassau and Suffolk counties. The beginning of the article reads that it is the only public liberal arts university "on Long Island." Brooklyn College is a public liberal arts university on the island of Long Island. - We don't have to answer that question: the statement in the lede was unsourced and not discussed or sourced in the body of the article so I have removed it. It's incumbent on anyone who wants to add it back to the article to provide a reliable source. ElKevbo (talk) 03:11, 20 May 2021 (UTC)

State University of New York at Old Westbury → SUNY at Old Westbury – WP:COMMONNAME. Theparties (talk) 14:42, 22 December 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose. The full name provides a WP:TITLECON consistent naming convention across all articles on universities and colleges in the United States. Many reliable sources like Forbes and US News and World Report still use the full name. The OP has also made numerous individual RMs on this same issue like this one, which may violate WP:ACROTITLE or use a shorter common name that is rarely used outside a sports/athletic context. Better to stick to the status quo. Zzyzx11 (talk) 15:12, 22 December 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose as unnecessary, unwise, and unhelpful for readers. ElKevbo (talk) 15:17, 22 December 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose, per the comments of Zzyzx11. —Eyer (he/him) If you reply, add

The move request asks that the page be moved to "SUNY at Old Westbury", a title that doesn't currently exist, which is also an indication that this is not, in fact, a WP:COMMONNAME. – Epicgenius (talk) 14:35, 23 December 2024 (UTC)
