Stance on Europe
[edit]"but has lately concluded that the UK's best interests lie outside the EU" - citation needed, surely? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Raybellis (talk • contribs) 10:03, 3 September 2018 (UTC)
- He's now pro-EU:
- So it seems that the assertion that he's against EU membership is wrong now, if it was ever right.
Stuff about Turkey
[edit]Surely cannot be true. Since when was Johnson a Turkish name? I'm deleting it anyway. Nothing in his bio about it anyway. --Differentgravy 22:16, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
- But is, it's been mentioned in some of the Johnson television programmes and in this review of Boris' Biography and in a column that covered Stanley's election bid [1] neither of which whilst not being the best places to cite show it's verifiable. edit: And was actually mentioned by Stanley himself which I didn't spot initially [2]--Sully 00:43, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
Population Control
[edit]This was taken directly from the re-write of his biography I did from a European Commission website, as well as the cite see also the titles of some of his books under Works, unfortunately I don't have a copy of the works themselves, but it wasn't added as a joke by any means.--Sully (talk) 17:57, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
My apologies, I hadn't added it but had found it mentioned in secondary sources so saw no need to remove it.--Sully (talk) 18:08, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

"Stanley said his son Boris Johnson's burka comments did not go far enough.^13" should, in context of the reference given, be changed to "Stanley said he wished Boris had been more hardline, in reference to his burka comments.^13". Quote given is incorrectly attributed to Stanley when it is reported as being said by Boris's sister; Rachel Johnson. Citation 13 tenuous due to lack of direct quote, [1] ,this link has more precise citations. DaemonRen (talk) 22:36, 24 June 2019 (UTC)
- Not done The source you provide directly quotes Stanley Johnson as saying the comments "didn't go far enough". It makes more sense to simply add the Sky News source. Alduin2000 (talk) 02:41, 7 July 2019 (UTC)
References
Writer?
[edit]The article title says he is an authoer but we don't have references to cite this. We will need to change the article name if we can't source this, and it doesn't looke easy. Claiming he wrote a book won't do as we don't have a secondary source for that either, just the ISBN number. ♫ RichardWeiss talk contribs 17:18, 23 July 2019 (UTC)
- Now fixed, phew. ♫ RichardWeiss talk contribs 17:25, 23 July 2019 (UTC)
- Um, why is the article not "Stanley Johnson (author)" or even, guided by the infobox, "Stanley Johnson (politician)"? Thanks. Martinevans123 (talk) 18:03, 23 July 2019 (UTC)

Change "Prime minister designate" to "Prime Minister" when describing Boris Johnson. Wa721 (talk) 15:50, 24 July 2019 (UTC)
- Done Thanks for the reminder. Mention should also go in the main body, I guess, not just the lead. But I think maybe they should also now be trimmed. Martinevans123 (talk) 15:55, 24 July 2019 (UTC)

Category to be added: Category:British people of Circassian descent (Johnson's great-grandmother was a Circassian beauty in the Imperial Harem, as has been widely documented). 94.252.97.107 (talk) 17:52, 25 July 2019 (UTC)
- Not done The article already has Category:English people of Circassian descent, except that one is not supported by anything in the article and so should be removed. Do have any of these "widely documented" sources? Thanks. Martinevans123 (talk) 17:56, 25 July 2019 (UTC)
Cornish
[edit]Johnson should be listed as Cornish, as he was born in Cornwall, and Cornwall is recognised as a constituent nation of the UK as per https://www.gov.uk/government/news/cornish-granted-minority-status-within-the-uk
It is not correct to describe Stanley Johnson as British. Goodwinsands2 (talk) 18:13, 13 April 2022 (UTC)
- You think Johnson is not British? You think Cornwall is not part of the UK? Does your source say that Cornwall is a nation? Did Cornwall have this special status in 1940? Martinevans123 (talk) 18:26, 13 April 2022 (UTC)
- Manners, manners, you seem to be a bit triggered. Make an effort to display more courtesy, I look forward to seeing an improvement.
- Well, now, my suggestion is perfectly reasonable, people from the United Kingdom on wikipedia are often described by their home nation status, as per https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:Nationality_of_people_from_the_United_Kingdom
- Kindly note that Cornish is listed here. And don't be impolite if you choose to respond, thank you so much. Goodwinsands2 (talk) 18:45, 13 April 2022 (UTC)
- Sorry if I forgot to say "please". By all means answer my questions and we may be able to progress accordingly. Thank you much. Martinevans123 (talk) 18:56, 13 April 2022 (UTC) p.s. almost forgot.... does Johnson see himself as Cornish and describe himself thus? Thanks.
- Your manners are better, well done, although I think you could be even more sincere in your apology.
- I think I must be missing something here, from your tone i wonder whether somone has appointed you to some sort of management position? Goodwinsands2 (talk) 19:18, 13 April 2022 (UTC)
- I think all of the questions are relevant. If you'd like me to continue the dialogue, perhaps you could offer some answers, preferably with some reliable source(s). Otherwise I'm quite happy to let other editors respond to your suggestion. No idea what you mean by "appointed you to some sort of management position". Sincere thanks. Martinevans123 (talk) 20:26, 13 April 2022 (UTC)
- Cornwall is not one of the home nations, there is no such thing as Cornish citizenship, Johnson is not of Cornish descent and he does not identify as Cornish (as far as I can tell). What's next? Another pointless argument about the pasty? --2A00:23C4:3E08:4001:F04F:E652:E000:C9D (talk) 22:45, 30 May 2022 (UTC)
