[edit]How Much better is the Spinning Mule then The Spinning Jenny? I know Spinning Jenny could do 100x the work of a person but how much more could the Spinning Mule do?? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.234.53.55 (talk) 18:30, 15 October 2020 (UTC)
which year was it invented?
This page and 'Spinning Mule' (different capitalization) appear to be duplicates of each other. I think one or the other should be replaced by a redirect. I tried to make a change to that effect and it was reverted. I'm kind of new around here, and probably made some mistake, but I'd be grateful if someone could tell me what I should have done140.247.191.195 01:30, 11 September 2007 (UTC)Tom
Used until date
[edit]I edited the date the mule was ceased to be used as I know the machines were still in use in Ramsbottom, Lancashire in the mid 1980's, spinning fine cotton waste. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.26.215.115 (talk) 00:18, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
Mule/Jenny/water frame
[edit]Can some one who really knows the subject please sort out the lead. I thought that Arkwright's patetn for the water frame ran (unchallenged) until it expired in 1783, despite suggestions that he merely developed the ideas of others. It was only his second patent (combining a carding machine with the water frame) that was in effect overturned, by proof that the carding machine was not his invention. I have only dabbled with textiles and am not an expert. Peterkingiron (talk) 23:26, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
Mule-Spinner's Cancer
[edit]Should there be a mention or cross reference to mule-spinner's cancer, which was particularly prevalent among cotton mule-spinners? See http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Cotton_mill#Health_of_the_workers Ileanadu (talk) 15:08, 30 April 2011 (UTC)
- Or even an article. The cancer only emerged when the lubrication oil changes from mineral to a vegetable/mineral oil mix and then declined as the ring frames took over. I was reminded of this at Helmshore, where I bought the Catling book- and it gives details on p-179. I have still to revise this whole article with the new knowledge- I am just thinking as where to start. It sounds if it could be a good DYK- but I have never submitted one- I believe a major revision would be reason to try.
