Requested move 28 December 2014[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: Not moved, since people don't agree that the river is the primary topic. Given the support for Ivar Smilga being primary, I've changed the Smilga redirect to point to the Ivar Smilga article instead of the river. Any further steps are up to editor consensus. Smilga River → Smilga – 1. The usual river naming convention in Europe, including Lithuania, is "Foo" - see Category:Rivers of Lithuania; this is an odd man out. 2. Oppose - per WP:NATURAL. Smilga should either be a dab page with the highly notable Ivar Smilga (1892–1938) Bolshevik revolutionary, the river, and others such as Karlis Smilga (1975) Latvian curler, or simply redirect to the famous Smilga as in the Leon Trotsky article "Smilga and Tukhachevsky were defeated during the Battle of Warsaw, but Trotsky refused this opportunity to pay Smilga back, which earned him Smilga's..." etc. In ictu oculi (talk) 19:25, 20 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose move to Smilga. I propose reverting this to the Smilga page. That would turn Smilga back into a disambig page for Smilga River Ivar Smilga and Karlis Smilga. Based on page view statistics Ivar_Smilga should probably be the first listing, it has more than twice as many page views as Smilga River or Ivar Smilga.
