Extend or Merge
[edit]I think there's a decisive case for keeping this page in its own right, the definition of Sittlichkeit is very useful and its current description is accurate and gives a flavour of Hegelian ethics. However it's bizarrely short and should definitely be extended. Suggested extensions would be:
- Where in Hegel's work it is mentioned
- Those who have (positively) utilised the concept of Sittlichkeit
- Critics of this mode of view. (Chiefly that of Kierkegaard).
- Modern use of the term
In general it would be useful to have a larger break down of Elements of the Philosophy of Right itself, however since that article is woefully short itself I can see that a general project of extending content on Hegel would be of use. Noxiyu (talk) 15:08, 12 August 2017 (UTC)
- I am fully in favor of "Extend or Merge", because I consider this entry just a stub on Sittlichkeit. In fact it is just 'Sittlichkeit according to Hegel' and excludes any manifestations of Sittlichkeit prior and post Hegel.
- In short, this is too one-sided for a Wikipedia entry.

- This concept was introduced by Hegel and chiefly associated with him. There is also a paragraph about "Later German thinkers." Comments on the contemporary use of the term need to be added but that is another matter. --Omnipaedista (talk) 10:18, 17 November 2021 (UTC)
