Question about Sono's career

[edit]

I started the article and it's pretty detailed already, but there's one thing I need to ask: many english sites say that Sion Sono has directed (and sometimes, that he's is better known for them) gay porn movies in the past (1, 2, 3, 4, 5), but I haven't been able to find any real evidence of this whatsoever. I mean, this is the closest I've got, and that's obviously some sort of stupid joke.

But when anybody talks about Sion Sono, they always have in mind the gay porn thing. Does anybody know (and can prove) if this is real? Thanks. --many Revolutions 08:53, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Frequent collaborators

[edit]

Sono worked with some of his frequent collaborators in his portion of the short film anthology series Madly. Is it worthwhile to include this in the table? If so, I'll look into his other short films if I can find enough info. -- Primium (talk) 07:09, 10 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

About the "Allegations of Sexual Misconduct" section

[edit]

The information in this section is inaccurate and not properly balanced, which I would like to correct. I would suggest the following:

Delete here On April 5, in a video he posted on YouTube, actor Tak Sakaguchi, who has appeared in Sono's films, identified himself as the actor merely identified as "T" in the Shūkan Josei article, and confirmed he organized the drinking party that led to Sono allegedly assaulting one of the accusing actresses.[52] reason This is the matter of Tak Sakaguchi. So, it shouldn’t written in Sion Sono’s page. Also the Shukan Josei article was deleted under the decision of the court, the content should not be written here.

Delete here On April 6, Shūkan Bunshun reported that producer Haruo Umekawa, who produced Sono's Love Exposure and Himizu, has allegedly pressured actresses for sexual favors in exchange for being cast in his films.[53] reason Since this is the matter of Haruo Umekawa, it shouldn’t be written in this section. He is a producer of Love Exoposure and Himizu. That’s it.

Delete here In a statement released on April 13, 2022, actress Kiko Mizuhara said she had heard widespread rumors about Sono's sexual conduct and had been warned by a fellow actor when she was offered a role in his film.[54] reason This is the rumor that Kiko Mizuhara heard and the gossip magazine pick it up. It should not be included here. This reference is unreasonable and malicious.

If there are no objections to my suggestion, I will correct it immediately. Min01f (talk) 23:21, 10 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

No one responded to my suggestions. Therefore I make this modification.
If you object to my correction, please discuss it with me and seek consensus before undoing. Min01f (talk) 04:20, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Min01f: The statements are sourced, and although dated they shouldn't be removed. It is already mentioned in the article that a settlement was reached, but I wouldn't call them inaccurate. I also wouldn't call the section unbalanced, but more expansion on the settlement section is a good idea. 🇺🇲JayCubby✡ plz edit my user pg! Talk 16:08, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
In your private opinion, you don’t think the source is inaccurate. However we can prove it inaccurate as Sion Sino did in the court.
The section now is balanced and mentioned only the facts. Please leave as it is. We kindly ask for your understanding. Min01f (talk) 04:25, 13 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Edit Request

[edit]
I would like to make a suggestion regarding this section.
Delete here:
On January 26, 2023, Shūkan Bunshun reported that one of the accusing actresses had died by suicide the prior month.[53]
Reason : It is not related to Sion Sono.
If there are no objections to my suggestion, I will correct it. Min01f (talk) 14:30, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Min01f I added the COI template, hopefully someone will notice your suggestion. It might take a bit but I did ping another user. 🇺🇲JayCubby✡ plz edit my user pg! Talk 15:02, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for dealing with this matter. Min01f (talk) 15:27, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No worries! I can't guarantee that it will be answered immediately, if you'd like you can ask on the help desk, that might get a quicker response. User:ToBeFree, I will ping you also. 🇺🇲JayCubby✡ plz edit my user pg! Talk 15:33, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the ping. JayCubby, "unexplained content removal" in response to BLP concerns voiced in an edit summary isn't really a proper revert reason. Thanks for explaining the actual reason above, in your 16:08, 12 March 2024 (UTC) message. The most applicable policy section may be WP:BLPCRIME, but I have no opinion about whether the material should be removed or not. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 20:19, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@ToBeFree Good point about the edit summary, and thank you for the reply. I guess we'll just have to wait for the ER to be answered. In the future, is it better to remove borderline sourced content (as in this case) or keep it? 🇺🇲JayCubby✡ plz edit my user pg! Talk 20:31, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
JayCubby, the edit request may well be declined due to a lack of consensus for the change unless you're now fine with it. It's not a way to request a third opinion. So if you are fine with the proposed change, please say so.
Regarding your question, I think WP:BLPRESTORE and the rest of the biographies of living persons policy pretty clearly favor removal in cases of doubt. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 20:36, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@ToBeFree Got it, thanks! Too many dang rules... 🇺🇲JayCubby✡ plz edit my user pg! Talk 21:44, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
JayCubby, ToBeFree, thank you for all the information.
I have reviewed Wikipedia's Biographies of Living Persons (BLP) policy (https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:Biographies_of_living_persons) that you shared with me.
I would like to make a suggestion regarding this section again.
Delete here:
On January 26, 2023, Shūkan Bunshun reported that one of the accusing actresses had died by suicide the prior month.[53]
Reason :
・The cause of suicide is unknown, and no information exists anywhere to determine the cause of suicide.
・Writing on this page suggests that Sion Sono is the cause, and lacks fairness and neutrality.
・The information source linked as a source is "Shūkan Bunshun". It's tabloid journalism and not a reliable source of information.
Wikipedia's BLP policy states, "The material should not be added to an article when the only sources are tabloid journalism."
・The source article is not open to the public. that is insufficient information source.
・The Wikipedia BLP policy states the following:
”contentious material about living persons that is unsourced or poorly sourced should be removed immediately and without discussion.”
According to the Wikipedia BLP policy, Biographies of living persons(BLP) must be written conservatively and with regard for the subject's privacy.
(I think the same reasoning applies to the previous three suggestions.)
I would like to obtain agreement on this suggestions.
This article has been marked as a controversial topic and has been semi-protected.
As it is,if there is no discussion, should I seek assistance at the BLP noticeboard or elsewhere? Min01f (talk) 14:54, 27 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I would go and check with the BLP noticeboard, I am split as well. I am conflicted and have no real ability to interpret the accuracy of a foreign-language source. 🇺🇲JayCubby✡ please edit my user page! Talk 15:03, 27 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
JayCubby, ToBeFree, Thank you for your cooperation.
I've added this suggestion to the BLP noticeboard, just in case.
For the reasons stated above, I believe that inaccurate and insufficient articles should be removed in accordance with the WP:BLP policy.
I hope to find agreement on this suggestions. Min01f (talk) 21:33, 8 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I responded at BLPN. I also removed the content and reference in question because it is not a reliable source for any BLP content. Of course, anyone is welcome to replace any part or all of the content I removed when there's a reliable secondary source to support it. Cheers! JFHJr () 04:59, 9 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
JFHJr, Thank you for your cooperation.I understand the content of your reply.
Many thanks. Min01f (talk) 18:42, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry about my assumption the sources were reliable, and I'm glad they were removed. 🇺🇲JayCubby✡ please edit my user page! Talk 18:51, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No worries. If you'd like to see more about the source I removed, see its article. If you'd like to run any other Japanese language sources by me, feel free to ping! I do not hang out at WP:RSN, but they are available to provide reliable source opinions. Cheers! JFHJr () 02:39, 11 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks very much! I really should have analyzed the removed source before reverting, oh well... 🇺🇲JayCubby✡ please edit my user page! Talk 02:50, 11 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
