Contested deletion
[edit]This article should not be speedy deleted as being recently created, having no relevant page history and duplicating an existing English Wikipedia topic, because... (The name of the page "Army of the Islamic State" refers to an organization separate to the main body of ISIL, rather than ISIL's military. The word "Army" in the page is part of the group's name. Also, this page has been created based on a group that has only very recently emerged, and information on it is currently scarce. Developments will ensue over the coming months, and I will ensure the page is kept up to date, as well as linked to in other relevant articles. Moreover, you can look at a similar organisation from which "Army of the Islamic State" originated from; Army of Islam, where the word "Army" also has no direct relevance to the military force in question, rather it is part of the name of the organization. Hence why this page should not be deleted.) --David1948IL (talk) 07:51, 3 June 2015 (UTC)
New page for "Sheikh Omar Hadid brigade" anyone?
[edit]David1948IL (talk) 20:36, 5 June 2015 (UTC) I'm lacking a page about one of Ansar Bait al-Maqdis' former brigades, named "Sheikh Omar Hadid brigade", from which the Army of the Islamic State group recently emerged. Would anyone be willing to create a Stub-type page to cover this subject?
- @David1948IL: currently working on a one but I will surely need some help from people with more knowlege about the subject, while reading I start to think I know less and less about the situation and I think that Wikipedia doesn't help me, which is a problem, and I live 100km away from the Gaza Strip and reads the news every day. Draft:Sheikh Omar Hadid Brigade --Bolter21 (talk) 22:01, 2 July 2015 (UTC)
- @Bolter21: you're page seems factually valid, although I would recommend adding in a few more citations. You seem like you know your stuff pretty well - I hope your page gets through - thanks a lot!
- @David1948IL: Well something happened, while making the page, it turned into a page about the Army of the Islamic State under the name of Sheikh Omar Hadid Brigade. I think that I will move any info that wasn't in your page (Like the Name section and the activities) and make mine as a stub article. --Bolter21 (talk) 14:58, 9 July 2015 (UTC)
The army of the islamic state does not and has never existed: PAGE DELETION REQUEST
[edit]this group has never existed sheikh omar hadid brigade was never part of ansar bait al-maqdis, and ABM was never in palestine, but in Sinai and sheikh omar hadid brigade has never gone by 'army of islamic state' but by sheikh omar hadid brigade only
this is a propaganda article created by a biased editor, and should be deleted and replaced with a correct and properly sourced and neutral article about the sheikh omar hadid brigade — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.112.152.21 (talk) 01:17, 12 November 2015 (UTC)
- @82.112.152.21: If you request for the deletion of this page, I would also urge you to consider making a similar deletion request to the Ansar Bait al-Maqdis page itself - within this page, the infobox clearly states that the Gaza Strip is one of Ansar Bait al-Maqdis's areas of operation. And ABM, as I carefully explained, is related to the Sheikh Omar Hadid Brigade, since the brigade first originated following ABM's pledge of allegience to ISIL, where it then mostly morphed into what we presently understand to be the Wilayat Sinai group. However, I do understand your concerns about the naming of this organisation, and I do understand that this article should probably be renamed as Sheikh Omar Hadid Brigade - however, I am almost certain that there is a group existing in Palestine that has separated itself from the Sheikh Omar Hadid Brigade, and I will investigate to ensure precisely how much it has done so. If it turns out no such group exists, than I will rename this article as Sheikh Omar Hadid Brigade instead - please do understand that there is no more bias in this article than in any other article about such organisations on Wikipedia, and that you have failed to specify exactly which of my citations have shown a relative bias compared to other similar articles. Also note that I may not have edited this article in a while, so I would perhaps recommend you, should I not edit it in the near future, to further the case for its renaming and modification (i.e. contact other users specialising in the matter)? 14:27, 17 November 2015 (UTC)
i would take issue with the idea that ABM operated in Gaza, but even it it did exist there in some form, that does not mean that any group now existing in Gaza going by the name of the Sheikh Omar Hadid brigade was formerly part of ABM nor if it was the case that a brigade within ABM was known as the 'Sheikh Omar Hadid Brigade' does it mean that that brigade within ABM is the same independent group now existing in Gaza...
as I see it, ABM operated in Sinai and became Wilayat Sinai upon pledging allegiance to IS, and the Sheikh Omar Hadid Brigade is an group that has always existed independently in Gaza since its formation — Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.244.77.96 (talk) 03:22, 29 December 2015 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: moved to Sheikh Omar Hadid Brigade by Bolter21. Jenks24 (talk) 13:28, 15 December 2015 (UTC)
Army of the Islamic State → Sheikh Omar Hadid brigade – The name "Army of Islamic State" doesn't show up in any source, Omar Hadid does. Bolter21 (talk to me) 16:10, 29 November 2015 (UTC) --Relisted. Natg 19 (talk) 07:44, 7 December 2015 (UTC)
- Support, there seem to very little references using the current name, which means Sheikh Omar Hadid Brigade might be the better WP:COMMONNAME at this time. Gazkthul (talk) 23:03, 29 November 2015 (UTC)
- Comment. If it is moved then Brigade should be capitalised. -- Necrothesp (talk) 14:10, 2 December 2015 (UTC)

Remove the “(so called)” part in the info box beside “Islamic State”. There is no need to mention “so called”, seeing as it is redundant. TheLibyanGuy (talk) 17:25, 24 July 2024 (UTC)
- Done Thanks for pointing that out! – macaddct1984 (talk | contribs) 18:36, 24 July 2024 (UTC)
