Hey i would like to ask for your opinion on changing the name of this article to Shaun Muir Racing as that would reflect the current team. Xrateddan (talk) 20:06, 24 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Shaun Muir RacingMilwaukee Yamaha – Seems to be the current WP:COMMONNAME of the subject. Steel1943 (talk) 20:17, 5 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose Inappropriate juncture for renaming this article, with less than two weeks remaining of the 2015 racing season, and one race meeting scheduled for 17/18 October in a close-fought, undetermined Championship with very close aggregate points-tallies. Few riders and teams have concluded future plans at this time, including SMR. There is already an historic Redirect from Milwaukee Yamaha.

There is no certainty that SMR will continue with either Milwaukee or Yamaha; there are many other variables:

  1. That Yamaha will contract Shaun Muir Racing to run World-level superbike racing
  2. That Shaun Muir Racing will split/expand to run World and British teams
  3. That Yamaha will contract another team to run World-level superbike racing
  4. That Yamaha will seek alternative European/World sponsors
  5. That Milwaukee will pull out
  6. That Milwaukee will not commit to European/World level investment
  7. That Shaun Muir Racing will continue with another British team sponsor
  8. That Shaun Muir Racing will continue with another machine manufacturer in British competition

There is already an established history in prose of SMR using different team names and machine changes; a recent trend in other teams is a move to BMW, a relatively new player in the hypersports market, and already very successful in competition. One thing which is reasonably certain is that Shaun Muir Racing will continue in one or more forms; on that basis, it would be premature, unneccesary work and possible confusion to be considering re-naming at this point - from the hypothetical options listed above, WP:CRYSTAL springs to mind.--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 11:10, 6 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
