Good stuff, glad to see the development of the Sunsets might eventually make it onto Wikipedia. Just one thing though regarding the list of musicians. My band Stone Idol supported the Sunsets at the Paget Rooms during one of their first ever gigs (promoted by Legs Barrett of course) and the bass player then was David "Batman" Goddard with Cyril "Cyd" Petherick on lead guitar. Coupled with Louis on drums this embrionic version of the Sunsets was in effect Shaky singing with one of the last lineups of the Backbeats.....but billed as Shakin Stevens and the Sunsets.

When the court case over unpaid royalties for "A Legend" was wound up Batman and Cyd both received a small portion of the settlement, so shouldn't they at least appear in the list of musicians. Thoughts?

Come to think of it, when my later band "Ingroville" supported Shaky and the band during 1973 (at the Paradiso Club in Amsterdam) Batman Goddard was back on bass then too.

Another thought is that Shaky already has his own Wikipedia entry and I can see some people immediately pushing to amalgamate the articles. Just a suggestion, but why not name this article "The Sunsets" and place it within the Shaky page as a sub-article? That might ensure more longevity for your excellent efforts. As the band still exists it could be expanded with some detail of their tribulations since Shaky parted company with them. I might have some photos of the band in the 70s somewhere in my memorabilia, I will have a search about. 21stCenturyGreenstuff (talk) 17:54, 5 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your thoughts and your extra information! Took a break from writing the page, but I hope to get it finished now.

I've done a bit more research and the names you mention did pop up so I will certainly include them. I'd be fascinated to hear more about your first hand accounts of appearing alongside the Sunsets.

I have considered the article may need to be absorbed into the main Shakin' Stevens page. However, I have surprised myself with the wealth of information I have found on the subject and feel it might overwhelm the relatively superficial info which currently exists on the Shakin' Stevens Wikipedia page, which, after all, is supposed to cover his most successful period (although, to me, less interesting!) Besides I believe the band deserve their own entry (although I'm sure many will disagree!)

Thanks again for your input. Jordansongs (talk) 01:04, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
