School Shooting

[edit]

Are you all seriously debating whether or not an isolated incident of a school shooting should be posted within an information wikipedia reference for Seven Lakes High School?? Take a look at other high school sites from other states. I looked at mine in MN, and it is completely informational. I must have the wrong idea because it is NOT appropriate to put any reference to any shooting in this contextual setting of wikipedia. It is not necessary and completely inappropriate. People can obtain this kind of "news" per another referential setting-like a news outlet. People who look at these are considering the school or other Katy schools for their child(ren). An incident does not inherently make a school "unsafe" and is not the first school it has happened at unfortunately. In light of today's news, I hope I am wrong about your intent. Kudos, awards, sports teams, ranking within all of US, these kinds of things are appropriate. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.34.17.237 (talk) 17:04, 11 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I think this warrants a section and should be kept in. -Ryantann

Yes, it very much does. Although i doubt there will be any real infromation if an (school) administrator does it. -Queso

Yeah, and his name should not be included as it has *not* been confirmed by anyone yet and the family wishes it to not be released at this time. Perhaps after a suitable time has passed *AND* it has been confirmed (death records, obituaries, etc) it can be included. -Ryantann

The school shooting incident should be left out imo. It only makes the school look bad and if that incident is included, then other notable occurences should be added as well. Like the Hurricane Ike closure? —Preceding unsigned comment added by The free one (talkcontribs) 16:44, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

should i add back the notable occurrences, that were removed for reasons not known by me? 98.201.11.43 (talk) 03:45, 16 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The school shooting should be included. Nothing like the Seven Lakes housewives sweeping the dirt under the rug. If this would have happened at Morton or Katy the housewives would have been all over it. Double standard? I think so. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.92.63.63 (talk) 03:16, 3 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Neutrality

[edit]

The written text of this article gives the impression that it was written by a student, specifically a student currently attending the school. I advise future editors to clean up this article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.63.25.160 (talk) 15:45, 29 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. Editors of this page should read the school article guidelines found at WP:WPSCHOOLS/AG. I will commence with bringing this article in line with the standards later this week. Two separate sections on Athletics, filled with namecruft? This is nothing like what a school article should look like. Gtwfan52 (talk) 22:18, 6 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

GTWFan52 Removing True Content

[edit]

When deleting my work, GTWFan52 should really bother to check the truth of my information. It is impossible to cite this type of information, and it is common knowledge that the STAAR tests have replaced TAKS in SLHS. Also, my edit to the school zoning is common knowledge for those who live in the area, and this is from experience. How much more authentic do you want? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rovv123 (talkcontribs) 02:39, 17 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia only publishes verifiable information. See WP:V. If you can't reference it you can't use it. And what you refer to as common knowledge may be just that locally. This article is not intended for the school's population. It is meant to inform the entire English speaking world. However, things that you "know" are not acceptable content. We only publish what others are already writing about. No one is picking on you. Wikipedia is much more concerned with what can be proven to be true thru references to reliable sources than your actual version of the truth. Oh, and if it cannot be cited, how would you propose that I check it? Gtwfan52 (talk) 03:21, 17 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Demographics

[edit]

Please cite reliable sources (see the Wikilink in the section above for guidance on what is or isn't a reliable source) when adding statistical info like demographics. Thanks. John from Idegon (talk) 08:57, 26 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

So, how exactly was my source unreliable? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rovv123 (talkcontribs) 21:52, 26 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Most web content is. See WP:RS. If you can find a reliable source (suggestion..look at other Texas HS articles), this would be useful content. But a real estate agent is not interested in distributing the actual facts; only the facts that will make their sales easier. A site like the state or a newspaper or one of the school rating sites would be much more appropriate. John from Idegon (talk) 18:03, 27 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
