Reference about kaikolar in 1st century AD from Arikamedu

In the following snippet from Google books, we see that Kaikolar existed in 1st century AD. The weaving business must have been very important as early as 2000 years.

Reference for Kaikolar Devadasis

The Erotic Sculptures of India, Y. Krishan, Artibus Asiae, Vol. 34, No. 4 (1972), pp. 331-343 provides references that describe the social status of Kaikolar women in India. The author explains how the Kaikolar Devadasi could never become a widow as she was considered to be married to the temple deity. Moreover the beads in her tali (thread worn by married Hindu women) were considered to bring good luck to women.

Need to restore true spirit of wiki here

Youonlylivetwice, seems to be hell bent on vandalizing Mudaliar and Sengunthar sites. His tone and tenor of the edits as well as presenting facts twisted, alluding to derogatory remarks. I am also shocked and dismayed the obsession with which he goes on editing the page only filled with derogatory stuff. Looks like this user has been doing colossal damage to the wiki in the name of facts. I, also feel that he has personal animosity towards this community.

Senguntha Prabantha Thiratu

Senguntha Prabantha Thiratu [1] is here, now, many can access it. We can refer it here in the WIKI Redlance (talk) 06:09, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

Cleanup and suggestions for improvement

I have cleaned up the formatting of this article, in part, to help make it easier to understand and edit. The table of contents is excessive. Can some of the numerous sub headings be removed, and the content formatted into paragraphs of three to five sentences (approximately), with each paragraph organized around a particular thought? Source for the noted people from the caste-Sengunthar http://www.sengunthamithiran.com/people.htmSureshmaran (talk) 11:27, 3 December 2008 (UTC)

The above site is not a reference. A quick scan of http://www.sengunthamithiran.com/ABOUTUS.HTM reveals that the editor of the site has only copied the contents from wikipedia. So it cannot be cited as a reference in wikipedia. But the official site of swamigal, http://variyarswamigal.com/ is more authentic. He belongs to lingayat also called as veera saiva caste. Cheers. Citations

For posting the noted people in the article, proper citations with authentic sources may be given--Sureshmaran (talk) 15:29, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

Poor formating

Somebody should move in to improve the format of this article; especially the paragraphs and sections. AshLey Msg 06:23, 7 August 2012 (UTC)

Incomplete citations

This article is rife with incomplete citations, poor citations, poor phrasing, dreadful organisation, clear attempts to puff up the Sengunthar community etc. I tagged some issues and done some cleaning. What I am not doing is tagging every problematic cite - I'll give it a few weeks for the major contributors to fix the obvious issues (no page numbers, no publication details etc) and then will be removing every statement that is supported by an incomplete citation. That is, citations that only give an author's name and book title or similar. This mess has gone on for long enough. - Sitush (talk) 00:31, 9 March 2013 (UTC)
