This should be moved to Untitled Scream sequel or Scream (2022 film)

According to Paramount Pictures[1], the title of this movie hasn't actually been confirmed as Scream 5. It appears that certain media outlets are making that assumption, even though the recent teaser on the official Scream Twitter account[2] did not show a numbered Scream title. What lends more credence to the above statement is that the directors involved have not connected this project and referred to it as Scream 5 either. Additionally, Variety noted that Spyglass Media Group and Paramount are labeling this movie as a "relaunch" of the series.[3] I find this case to be similar to what Universal Pictures, Blumhouse Productions and Miramax did to Halloween (2018 film) in that front. In light of such evidence, I suggest the idea of re-titling the aforementioned article page to either Untitled Scream sequel or Scream (2022), to accommodate the change. I think Untitled Scream Sequel is the best route to go right now, as we don't know if it will be a simplistic reuse of the Scream title like Halloween or a Scream 5 (or something awful like Scream: Reborn). TropicAces (talk) 14:02, 24 September 2020 (UTC)tropicAces

About the back and forth move

Hello @*Treker and Elainasla:, I've moved this page two times today, from Scream (2022 film) to Scream 5 and from Scream 5 back to Scream (2022 film), if any of you want the page to be moved again, it must be settled in a proper RM at this talk page as it does not qualify to be requested again at WP:RMTR. As of September 14, 2020 this was still unnamed

The movie is more than a year out.

This article from September 14, 2020 says "It certainly won't be called Scream 5...."

Please don't try to move the page or change the DISPLAYTITLE or DEFAULTSORT to anything other than the current page name until an official announcement is made.

When there is an official announcement, follow the instructions in the <!-- html comments --> that I added to the |name= line of the {{Infobox film}} template near the top of the article. You will need to be editing the article to see this. I do not know if the "visual editor" or the editor for the mobile version of Wikipedia shows HTML comments or not. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 14:50, 23 October 2020 (UTC)

Proposed editnotice to discourage people from calling this "Scream 5" without attribution

After October 30, 2020, remove this "update after" template. If there is support for using an Editnotice, follow the instructions at WP:Editnotice to request one.

I would like to add the following Editnotice to this article. This will put editors "ON NOTICE" to check the talk page before "renaming" the page or trying to insert a new name in place of "Untitled Scream sequel." Proposed text:

This article is about an upcoming film without an officially announced title. Please see talk page (this will appear as a wikilink to the talk page) before moving (renaming) this article, change the name of the film as listed in the opening sentence, or adding or making changes to the |name= line in the {{Infobox film}} template, the {{DISPLAYTITLE}}, or the {{DEFAULTSORT}} lines.

Yes, I am aware that people who ONLY try to move the page will not see the edit notice, but hopefully they will have seen it already through editing before actually trying to move the page.

Semi-protected edit request on 11 October 2021

Entertainment Weekly have published an exclusive article with movie stills that reveal the characters names as follows:

Melissa Barrera - Samantha Jenna Ortega - Tara Jack Quaid - Richie Jasmin Savoy Brown - Mindy Dylan Minnette - Wes Mikey Madison - Amber Mason Gooding - Chad Kyle Gallner - Vince 2A02:C7F:C7E:9600:10EF:783B:DA9D:8A39 (talk) 13:19, 11 October 2021 (UTC)

  • [1] is the source in question, I'm guessing. The roles appear in the captions of various film screen shots throughout the source, supporting the names as listed here (no last names). I just reverted the addition of the roles in the article because it wasn't backed by this (or another reliable) source. MPFitz1968 (talk) 15:10, 11 October 2021 (UTC)
  •  Done. Roles added and sourced (with reference above, and by several editors including me). MPFitz1968 (talk) 16:27, 11 October 2021 (UTC)

Spoiler

I looked at the wiki page to see who directed the movie, and I accidentally saw that Skeet Ulrich is in it. Is that a spoiler? I didn’t see him in the trailer. I feel like it’s a spoiler and I’m actually pretty upset to have seen that. 2600:387:B:9A2:0:0:0:35 (talk) 04:58, 14 January 2022 (UTC)

Theo Von?

How is Theo Von apart of this film? was this an error? 2600:6C42:6C7F:D7F6:28B2:2191:9689:9A6B (talk) 21:37, 14 January 2022 (UTC)

Lead

"The film has grossed over $13 million, becoming the second-highest-grossing film of 2022." Is this WP:LEAD stuff? Really? The year is somewhat young. Seems fan-ish. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 13:53, 16 January 2022 (UTC)

Personally I've always found it silly, but it is seemingly rather standard even for films from early parts of the year to say such things.★Trekker (talk) 21:18, 19 January 2022 (UTC)

Draft for potential sequel

To avoid the Future section getting overflooded in case of a sequel being eventually announced feel free to put stuff in Draft:Untitled Scream sequel instead.★Trekker (talk) 21:19, 19 January 2022 (UTC)

In scream 2022 it’s says Billy is Tara biological father but it is actually Sam’s (who is Tara sisters). This is just a simple mistaken name swap. 2001:8003:9096:3401:EDA7:DE47:8D6C:2003 (talk) 13:27, 21 January 2022 (UTC)

Starring cast order

Can someone explain what the order of casting is supposed to be in? I just find it very odd that Neve Campbell is listed last, but according to IMDB they list her first? So I’m wondering if the movie herself lists her last? Hopefully someone will be able to answer this…Pillowdelight (talk) 03:29, 31 January 2022 (UTC)

Per Wikipedia’s usual practice, the cast order in the infobox is based on the billing block at the bottom of the official poster, but the movie follows that order on the point you’re questioning. The three major legacy cast members appear at the end of the photo credits, preceded by “with;” Campbell is at the very end and also gets an “and.” Appearing at the end of photo credits following “with” and “and” is generally a bigger deal than being at the start of the photo credits. IMDB may be using the order of the text credits; I can’t remember offhand where the legacy actors appeared in that. Brendan N. Moody 11:52, 31 January 2022 (UTC)
The IMDb order is based off the scrolling end credits, which give top-billing to the three original cast members. Bluerules (talk) 13:05, 28 February 2022 (UTC)

Review from RogerEbert.com for critical response section

I'd like to add the following to the critical response section, between the News.com review and the New York Times review: Brian Tallerico of RobertEbert.com gave the film 3 stars and highlighted that it "feels consistent with the first four movies but distinct enough to have its own voice." [1]

Not done for now: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the {{edit semi-protected}} template. The reception section is already well detailed, including quotes that express a similar critique. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 19:06, 23 March 2022 (UTC)

Request to update Sequel section of article with updated info

There is more updated information related to the sequel of Scream (2022). I would like to alter the Sequel section of this article to more accurately describe the upcoming Scream sequel. Specifically I will want to use information from an article posted in Variety. This is the link to the article: https://variety.com/2022/film/news/scream-sequel-announced-1235171366/?sub_action=logged_in Erossing99 (talk) 03:22, 24 March 2022 (UTC)

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 11:04, 24 March 2022 (UTC)

Updating the film's gross ranking

Currently in the third paragraph, it shares the film's gross amount, "making it the eighth highest-grossing film of 2022" where it then links to this wikipedia page, https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/2022_in_film#Highest-grossing_films. The issue is that on that linked wikipedia page, the film is not ranked as the eighth, but seventh. So, I would like to change "making it the eighth highest-grossing film of 2022" to "making it the seventh highest-grossing film of 2022." Elmqu089 (talk) 21:38, 26 March 2022 (UTC)
