Drug use
The perceived drug use of Scooby and Shaggy at least is widely, widely documented in popular culture, and warrants mention. Thoughts? -Oreo Priest talk 13:05, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

Scooby-Doo kids series: A Pup Named Scooby Doo
I seem to recall a show when I was a kid (in the 80's/90's) called Scooby-Doo Kids or something like that. It was basically Scooby-Doo, but they were all kids. I couldn't see anything like that in this article, so am I missing it, or can someone please point me in the right direction? Thanks. 58.166.69.56 (talk) 15:26, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
Remove "Assumed Adult Themes" section?
I think that the "Assumed Adult Themes" should be removed because these are based on opinions, are unproductive and not facts. I find it hard to believe that the show's creators/producers would put stuff like that in there.
Wolfdog406 (talk) 23:22, 17 February 2010 (UTC)
- While I agree show's creators/producers likely didn't put the stuff here in the show you can't ignore the fact that a good number of fans did and still do see these things. The drug connection with Shaggy was do with his beatnik-hippie appearance and his constant appetite (supposedly a sign of marijuana use); more charitable fans had suggested that Shaggy suffered from Graves' disease.
- That said the Fred and Daphne connection is a little iffier as Velma was more likely be with Fred and Daphne as she was with Shaggy and Scooby in the early episodes of Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! though she would get separated and be wandering around alone. When that happened odds were she would somehow loose her glasses so she could do a Mr Magoo. For example, in one episode Velma wanders into a torture chamber without her glasses and says "This must be the playroom; there are so many interesting toys." only to say "How did I get into this horrible room" once Shaggy gives her her extra pair of glasses. In "What a Night for a Knight" Velma without her glasses mistakes the knight ghost for Shaggy and tries to give him some cough medicine.--BruceGrubb (talk) 12:51, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
- Whether or not the show's creators put it in there, it's extremely well documented, and a widespread part of popular culture and public perception of the show. Definitely should stay. Oreo Priest talk 14:27, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
I was curious to learn more about Shaggy's purported use of cannabis and found, to my surprise, a near total vacuum pertaining to the subject. Yes, I've heard the claim by the actors and others associated with the show that there was no intent to portray Shaggy as a cannabis user — Casey Kasem even saying that the notion never occurred to him. I simply find such claims incredible. Even though I first watched the show at age 12 and was, at the time, a strict fundamentalist Christian who rarely even saw people smoke cigarettes, I immediately assumed that Shaggy was being presented as a stoner. I find it hard to believe that I am a rarity in this regard. I acknowledge that hard facts about this are hard to come by — barring some admission from one of the original creators. Still, a simple Google search (scooby-doo stoner) turns up over a million hits. Can the case be made that the speculation is part of the show's larger story? This isn't an earth-shaking matter, I know, but perhaps we can consider it food for thought. 173.80.230.142 (talk) 21:20, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
- I grew up during the first run of all but the original Scooby-Doon shows in a house that was neither Christian nor conservative and honestly it never occurred to me that Shaggy was a stoner. I was thin and always hungry myself so his behavior, other than an odd taste in food, didn't seem that out of the ordinary for me.
- That being said, since the subject is never depicted in the show and everyone associated the show disavows it, the issue therefor amounts to internet rumors and fan fiction and is not suitable for Wiki. Ckruschke (talk) 19:20, 21 February 2012 (UTC)Ckruschke

Debuted in 1969, not 1970
In several places this page refers to the show as having debuted on Saturday morning, September 13, 1970. I believe that is incorrect. All other relevant Wikipedia pages (and other online references) correctly identify the date as Saturday, September 13, 1969. Indeed, September 13, 1970 was a Sunday, so "Saturday, September 13, 1970" doesn't even exist as a real date. If no one objects, I'm going to make the change throughout. azaner 01:52, 13 August 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Azaner (talk • contribs)
Ohio?
The article says nothing about the show being set in Ohio. Where is the citation for having Scooby Doo in the category of Television Shows set in Ohio? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.0.65.99 (talk) 13:36, 21 August 2010 (UTC)
- It is well known that the none of the new series, movies, etc, from 1988-to now, are connected to the original Scooby-Doo series from 1969-1985. All that stuff was made up to add new stuff to the shows. A Pup Named Scooby-Doo, the two live-action films and the two live-action telefilms are the only series that use Coolsville, Ohio in them. What's New Scooby-Doo? does not use it at all and the new series Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated has them living in Crystal Cove. So to put this in there is irrelevant as there is a constant change in the series. JamesAlan1986 (talk-Contributes) 06:42, 6 July 2011 (UTC)
Origin of the phrase Scooby Doo.
The television cartoon Scooby-Doo debuted in 1969. I heard the term Scooby Doo used in an episode of The Beverly Hillbillies from the very early 1960's. Reoccurring Monsters?
Shouldn't we start a section for reoccurring monsters as they seem to have a repeat of certain monster, eg. They have done the Loch Ness Monster at least three times, The yeti at least twice. This is just off the top of my head I know there's more. And I know some would say that's "trivia" but it's really not I think it's actually information worth knowing and posting. Other opinions? Please post Oppose: or Support: before you opinion. Thanks! JamesAlan1986 (talk-contribs) 18:47, 9 August 2011 (UTC)
- ADD ON: Also if it's agreed to do this, it'll need to be posted (along side the monster) which episode or movie they are in.
- Eg.
- Lock Ness Monster - Scooby-Doo! and the Loch Ness Monster, Laff-A-Lympics episode "The Sahara Desert and Scotland", and The Scooby-Doo Show episode "A Highland Fling with a Monstrous Fling".
That's all. JamesAlan1986 (talk-contribs) 18:55, 9 August 2011 (UTC)

- I've removed the chart as it runs way off the page, and the majority of characters listed do not appear in more than one series. It's generally frowned upon to create "charts" of any sort on Wikipedia, as it's professional-looking to explain what you are saying in prose if possible. See WP:PROSE for more explanation on that style convention. All of the information on this chart is explained in detail on both the main page and the character pages, so a table seems very unnecessary and redundant in this particular case. - Hi and thanks for starting this discussion! I reverted your 'starter page', because per Wikipedia policy, page splits and moves must be discussed and a consensus must be reached by multiple editors (usually). Just for the future, generally it's also not acceptable to just delete info and copy-and-paste it onto another page without linking back to the main page. I guess my personal opinion on the Scooby-Doo filmography page is that everything is fine as it is now, though if anyone else has an opinion on this I'm definitely open to other perspectives! :) Cheers, Katniss May the odds be ever in your favor ♥ 19:40, 4 April 2018 (UTC)

Here is a Scooby-Doo filimogly for the page dose anyone want to help finish it? Fanoflionking (talk) 23:06, 7 April 2018 (UTC)
- Okie dokie, I fixed it up a bit, hopefully you like it. Per Ckruschke's above comment, I guess I agree that the page is pretty large and could use a separate page. Upon looking at the current draft, I have a couple minor suggestion. I think the current draft page name should be changed, especially considering there's a typo in there. I'm fine with calling it "List of Scooby-Doo media", unless anyone has other names they think would be better. Also, what are people's thoughts on including the video game and stage play charts in this page? Katniss May the odds be ever in your favor ♥ 22:32, 8 April 2018 (UTC)
Not too sure if plays and video games should count? But I got a some questions should Scooby-Doo: Behind the Scenes be counted as a spiceal or series also is it possible to add a total episode count? And should we have critical reception of Films? And fanily should we count Scooby's All-Star Laff-A Lympics as a series and how about compties like Mystery Funhouse --Fanoflionking (talk) 22:51, 8 April 2018 (UTC)Fanoflionking (talk) 22:47, 8 April 2018 (UTC)
- I knew there was something I forgot to mention! I deleted the total episode count just because I think it would get a bit messy. There's a lot of confusion around whether to count the shorts individually or not in series like The Richie Rich/Scooby-Doo Show. That's not to say we definitely shouldn't add one, but I think it would cause a lot of confusion and edit warring which could be easily solved by not including the episode count, and leaving it up to reader interpretation. As for your other questions, I would say Behind the Scenes should be counted as under specials, seeing as it's just 8 less than a minute shorts which were aired together. The critical receptions of films would probably be best left on the respective pages for each of the film, rather than on the filmography page itself. I would say Scooby's All-Star Laff-a-Lympics would definitely count as a series, seeing Scooby's name is in the title. Eh, my personal opinion is we should leave the repackage shows like Scooby's Mystery Funhouse out, just because it's not "new" content and it's just an umbrella programming block for grouping the old episodes which are part of another series. Katniss May the odds be ever in your favor ♥ 17:44, 9 April 2018 (UTC)
The page for Where's My Mummy? says “The film had a limited theatrical release in the United States on May 13, 2005” and Scooby-Doo! & Batman: The Brave and the Bold “the Bold since the series ended in 2011. The film was premiered at the TCL Chinese Theatre[7] on January 6, 2018[8]” do we have box office for the titles Fanoflionking (talk) 18:39, 9 April 2018 (UTC)
- Hrmm. The Scooby-Doo, Where's My Mummy? page doesn't have that info sourced at all, meaning someone could have added something fake. The TCL Chinese Theatre would not have a box office because it was a one-time "Hollywood premiere" showing, and not something that actually made it to theaters. Katniss May the odds be ever in your favor ♥ 19:10, 9 April 2018 (UTC)
Is there anythingelse we need too do (I.E photo, ertc) B4 moveing pageFanoflionking (talk) 16:40, 10 April 2018 (UTC)
- The page looks good at this point. I would say we should wait maybe a few days to move the article into the mainspace, just to make sure no one else has any other comments or objections to splitting the page that they'd like to add to the discussion. I also moved Scoobynatural into the 'special episodes' section, seeing as its not a film and is part of another series. In the meantime, do we think the long list of series/films in the infobox should be deleted once we have this list of Scooby-Doo media? IMO it seems a bit redundant to have if we are making this page. Katniss May the odds be ever in your favor ♥ 18:41, 10 April 2018 (UTC)
Not sure about the infobox maybe it should stay here? What do u think? Is there a picture/s we could used for the new page I.E the Scooby-Doo logo, a frame for episode or movie or even a poster for a film, ertc? Fanoflionking (talk) 22:31, 10 April 2018 (UTC)
- We should keep the main page's infobox, but as I said I think we should delete the list of films/series from it, as it seems redundant to have them on that page and then also this new one. Per the Wikipedia image use policy, the image would have to be one that is free of copyright restrictions, so an episode/movie frame probably wouldn't work. The Scooby-Doo logo is probably our best option. Or we could just re-use one of the images that's on the main page. Katniss May the odds be ever in your favor ♥ 22:41, 10 April 2018 (UTC)

How about comic books like world of mystery and Apocalypse as well as books? Fanoflionking (talk) 21:02, 12 April 2018 (UTC)
- I mean, if you want to take the time to document and type all those out on the article, more power to you! From what I've seen though, there's not really anywhere they're currently documented on Wikipedia other than a few of the comic series. You're more than welcome to add those of course, and I'm sure people would find it helpful if you added them. I however am not even close to motivated enough to take the time to document the thousands of comics and books, but tbh that's just me being lazy lol. So go ahead and add them if you like! Katniss May the odds be ever in your favor ♥ 23:03, 12 April 2018 (UTC)

- and if u want we can move it now, and if there anything we did not do we can do it on the new page Fanoflionking (talk) 14:00, 13 April 2018 (UTC)
- It looks ready to me, though I edited several of your additions in the comic section. FYI it's generally frowned upon to leave sections entirely blank, so I temporarily removed the book section until there is actually content in it. I also fixed the notes, which had various minor grammatical and capitalization errors. I also removed some non-existant links and the link to the Where Are You comic, as it would link readers to the television series that has nothing to do with the comic. Feel free to take a look at what I've done, and if you're okay with what I changed, I think it's definitely ready to be moved. Katniss May the odds be ever in your favor ♥ 19:05, 13 April 2018 (UTC)

The caption for one of the photos reads: "Every episode of the original Scooby-Doo format contains a penultimate scene in which the kids unmask the ghost-of-the-week to reveal a real person in a costume, as in this scene from "Nowhere to Hyde"..." However, the image in question just shows the kids talking to a police officer who has the villain handcuffed. There's absolutely no unmasking going on in this scene. Joe Ruby and Ken Spears "creating" the series
So there's an (uncited) claim that Joe Ruby and Ken Spears created the original series, however I feel there's a bit more nuance to it then that. We have JR and KS themselves claiming that they wrote the lion's share of the episodes, Joe Barbera's biography only directly acknowledging they bloked out the scripts...They themselves allegedly wrote most of the episodes (but another source claims that Bill Lutz wrote the entire first season). Already this is getting very complicated...I believe this requires more investigation. --Smcupcake19 (talk) 03:57, 5 September 2021 (UTC)
Mystery Incorporated YouTube Series
On the 31st of January, 2020, a new YouTube channel named Mystery Incorporated was created with plans to create an official live-action series of Scooby-Doo. Described as having been heavily inspired by Supernatural, Riverdale, and the original Scooby-Doo cartoons. It is going to be directed by Dante Yore and will star Dade Elza, Jessica Chancellor, Dayeanne Hutton, Chris Villain, and Thor Von Schultz as the gang.
They are currently raising funds with Indiegogo to film a full hour-long pilot episode.
