Origin of the name of the show
[edit]Can someone more knowledgable than me add a section on this? I assume it is named after a famous ninja, but probably not the guy from Naruto.... - 152.76.1.244 (talk) 22:51, 27 February 2012 (UTC)
Talk Page Archived
[edit]Sorry for all the goofy edits. Anyway, I made a second archive page (it was longer than the article) since there will probably be a lot more discussion coming in from SASUKE22 Lostinube (talk) 01:32, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
Too Much Clutter
[edit]It seems authors of this page have turned it more into a biography about the more notable competitors than the actual show itself. There are way too many tables and clarifying info inside parenthesis causing unneeded scrolling and re-reading. Immediately at the beginning, it lists the international broadcast carriers of the show, which is fine, but then it also has a seperate section on the broadcast of the show. One of them can be erased. And how is this a reference:
"7. ^ In that tournament, her last name was listed as Tanabe because at the time she was single." Minnesota cold (talk) 01:55, 22 June 2009 (UTC)
I agree completely. I don't think the general public, or most hardcore Sasuke fans will read everything on this page. 90% of the competitor list should be either removed, or made into its own page. Anyone disagree? JPjuice23 (talk) 03:31, 24 June 2009 (UTC)
- I see no problems with spinning off the competitors to another page. Lostinube (talk) 13:16, 24 June 2009 (UTC)
- I agree and think that the list of results from each tournament should also be on another page. If both the competitor and results lists are moved, most of the main clutter of the page will be gone, and it will be easier to spot mistakes in the information that is left. Maybe the pages could be titled, "List of SASUKE competitors," and "SASUKE Results"? Sorry if I did this post wrong I'm new to Wikipedia. PenCrazy (talk) 00:28, 7 July 2009 (UTC)
- That shall be done. KyuuA4 (Talk:キュウ) 19:56, 5 August 2011 (UTC)
If there are no objections, I am going to delete most of the Sasuke All Stars' biographies and make it just a list of the six competitors. They all have their own pages anyway. If anyone wants to make an english version of the ones that link to ja.wiki then they can go into the page history and recover the biography. C5mjohn (talk) 04:02, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
- You shouldn't have just deleted that information, instead you should have created a new page about the Sasuke All Stars and copied all the information to the new page. Now this looks really unbalanced. Please fix. 133.51.78.221 (talk) 06:41, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
Agreed. This article is becoming quite the convoluted mess. KyuuA4 (Talk:キュウ) 19:56, 5 August 2011 (UTC)
Sasuke 24 results
[edit]I noticed someone posted partial results for Sasuke 24. Unless a WP:RS is found for it, it is WP:SPECULATION. I have since removed it. Will be happy to put it back if a source is found for it though. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mylife2702 (talk • contribs) 02:00, 10 December 2009 (UTC)
- I don't think it would be prudent to post partial results. Unless we know who did what with a verifiable source (i.e. the aired competition) it kinda degrades the quality of the article in my opinion. Qomolangma (talk) 02:36, 15 December 2009 (UTC)
- I have reverted the results twice here and here. Please do not add in the partial results unless you can provide a WP:RS, otherwise it will be WP:SPECULATION Mylife2702 03:24, 15 December 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mylife2702 (talk • contribs)
on Sasukepedia I heard that Nagano failed the Jumping Spider and Katsumi Yamada timed out in the first Stage. Is that right? 79.218.97.58 (talk) 13:25, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
Who added Urushihara to SASUKE-All Stars? I've watched the broadcast live, and he's still considered the part of 'New Stars', consisting of Urushihara and Kanno Hitoshi. Supernovamaniac (talk) 18:40, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
New Stars
[edit]I'm making a new section in the wiki for new stars since they have an official titleACE$MAKER (talk) 14:17, 31 March 2010 (UTC)
Wrong Link at Yamada Katsumi
[edit]The name Katsumi Yamada links to a japanese Ski athlet with the same name- that is not the one, who competed at Sasuke. The ski jumper died in 1970 according to his wiki entry - so it can't be him. 2003:E6:5716:BA70:543F:56B6:4B3C:E5DF (talk) 11:11, 18 October 2020 (UTC)
Australia
[edit]To whoever insists on claiming that SASUKE, Banzuke and KUNOICHI are being broadcast in Australia. I've done extensive research. There is no mention of it being broadcasted anywhere. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.106.155.24 (talk) 09:48, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
- These shows are shown in a one-hour block on Sunday nights from 7:30pm on the Australian SBS TV Channel. A simple search of their site will verify this. - 152.76.1.244 (talk) 22:46, 27 February 2012 (UTC)
Yuuji Urushihara
[edit]The article claims that Yuuji finished the final stage, but it doesn't say he achieved Final Victory, can someone explain this? Sephiroth storm (talk) 22:34, 15 August 2010 (UTC)
SASUKE 27
[edit]We have no information on it besides it IS happening, so let's look out for those bogus airdate, yeah? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rollinman (talk • contribs) 01:41, 19 June 2011 (UTC)
SASUKE 28
[edit]As of this date, no announcement about SASUKE 28 has been made yet. Lostinube (talk) 22:01, 12 March 2012 (UTC)
Unsplit Ninja Warrior from Sasuke?
[edit]With the increasingly unlikely continuation of Sasuke(?), and the impending finalization of the purely American Ninja Warrior, is it time to move most the ANC/ANW details out and start growing a dedicated Ninja Warrior article? VxJasonxV (talk) 07:53, 5 May 2012 (UTC)
Notable competitors pages
[edit]Most of the links to competitors' pages are in Japanese and there are no English wiki pages for anyone apart from Nagano. Does anyone have an opinion on how many of the competitors are notable enough to create pages in English Wiki? e.g. All-Stars plus Urushihara? Btljs (talk) 06:03, 11 July 2014 (UTC)
Split apart
[edit]This article is over 100k, so needs to be split apart, into much smaller articles, say around 30k -- 70.51.46.146 (talk) 10:50, 16 September 2014 (UTC)
Split off a franchise article
[edit]It has been suggested that this page be split into a new page titled Ninja Warrior franchise. (discuss) |
I suggest a franchise article be split off. This article is already rather long. If we take out most of the text for American Ninja Challenge and American Ninja Warrior with much briefer summaries left here, it would better the flow. The new franchise article would summarize this article as well as the Kunoichi (TV series) article, and contain the bulk of the text from this article for the two sections I just mentions. The Related events section should also go to the franchise article. -- 70.51.46.146 (talk) 10:37, 16 September 2014 (UTC)
- If it does get split, then the title should be Ninja Warrior (franchise). Digifiend (talk) 14:06, 18 February 2015 (UTC)
Split off a competitors article
[edit]It has been suggested that this page be split into pages titled Competitors on Sasuke and Sasuke All-Stars. (discuss) |
We already have a List of Sasuke competitions article, similarly we can have a competitors article. Leave a short summary at this article, and move the bulk of the text off to two child articles. "Sasuke All-Stars" would deal with the All-Stars. A summary of that would appear in this article and at the new "Competitors" article. -- 70.51.46.146 (talk) 10:50, 16 September 2014 (UTC)
- Oppose: section would be listcruft/fancruft/excessive detail. I think there's too much of that already in this article — the solution is to cut back on the content in this article rather than splitting it into more articles.
- As a side note, because no-one else has commented on this (in the 9 months since it was proposed) and because it seems unlikely the article will get split, I've removed the two relevant Split tags in the article. — Bilorv(talk)(c)(e) 20:06, 10 June 2015 (UTC)
List of Sasuke Stages
[edit]Can someone please Create or Repost List of Sasuke Stages? Because that page is important for people to know what obstacles were in each tournament and it was unfair that someone deleted it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 73.197.94.122 (talk) 04:52, 14 May 2015 (UTC)
it took a while, but after seeing that no one wanted to do the job, i have decided to complete the job. it still needs work, but i would say the main part is at least done. the page can be found in the ""see also.."" section of the sasuke article. -Dog2489
Special?
[edit]Not a television special at all. It is a regular, long-running series. Kortoso (talk) 22:05, 13 October 2016 (UTC)
3/28/2017 - Narration
[edit]I think someone more experienced on this matter can hopefully answer this but on the japanese version of the show there's so many people talking and to be honest they all talk at times and discuss the competitors and what not so who exactly belongs on the narration page? 193.109.199.41 (talk) 01:56, 29 March 2017 (UTC)
i don't know the answer and there's a reason why some of those guys weren't removed from that particular section for a very long time reading through the revisions but if you wanted an answer i think someone who's worked on the ja.wikipedia sasuke version of the page https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/SASUKE or maybe someone who can understand japanese would in my opinion be the best people to work on this page and if it requires page protection then so be it. 98.144.55.200 (talk) 05:06, 29 March 2017 (UTC)

Cruft
[edit]Since there seems to be a dispute over what is and isn't WP:CRUFT I'm creating this talk section so we can talk about it and reach a consensus. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 18:26, 30 January 2023 (UTC)
- I would be interested in learning what is considered Cruft in the context of this article's topic.
- For example, large overviews of single competitors I somewhat understand being considered over-detailed. On the other hand, an overview of the format (the stages, with at least mentions of staple obstacles) seems standard enough for this general genre of show, and listing the various international airings appears courtesy for a TV show that does so.
- (Using Wipeout as a reference for these assumptions due to being one of the closest comparisons i can think to make.) FixTheWiFi (talk) 20:47, 30 January 2023 (UTC)
- THe reason I removed the listing of various international airings is because not all of them have articles on English Wikipedia (some have articles in another language, some don't have articles at all) and they seem to be considered their own TV shows based on Sasuke, rather than various versions of the show dubbed and localized to different languages/regions. I agree that an overview of the format would be useful with reliable sources, however a listing of every single obstacle that has made an appearance is not. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 20:50, 30 January 2023 (UTC)
- I would like to point out that the Wipeout page does have a list of spinoffs, many of which don't have their own pages and the ones that do clearly being their own shows borrowing the obstacles and format. So I do think having a list of spinoffs is acceptable. I also think the list of international champions should stay because there is no page for the Ninja Warrior franchise as a whole; as Sasuke is the original and main show, I think that in the absence of such an article this information that's important to the franchise should go here, especially considering multiple spinoffs with champions such as France, Austria and Vietnam do not and possibly will never get their own articles due to the language barrier making it hard to find sources (Vietnam especially since A. it's virtually cancelled, and B. a notable competitor on American Ninja Warrior achieved total victory on it) Lightningmatt (talk) 21:39, 30 January 2023 (UTC)
- I see your point. I feel this article is in a bit of an odd spot in that the international versions are basically their own TV shows at this point and are simply based on this show's concept, however they're also part of the "Ninja Warrior" franchise as a whole. I'm curious if there are enough sources to create a franchise article for this series. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 21:48, 30 January 2023 (UTC)

The way I see things, the international versions should be allowed to remain on this article atleast as a brief mention. As for a list of international champions, that can be added as well since as Lightningmatt pointed out, there isn't really a fitting article for such a list right now as there's no article for the franchise as a whole. Bowling Ninja (talk) 01:39, 31 January 2023 (UTC)
Alright, just took a look at blaze's recent edit snd frankly I'm a little pissed the stage descriptions were removed. The obstacle list I can get, sasukepedia exists to describe each stage's obstacles in each tournament. I think the descriptions of the four stages should've stayed though, would be incredibly useful for those new to the format! Bowling Ninja (talk) 15:46, 31 January 2023 (UTC)
nvm, I didn't read the article that well lol, disregard. Bowling Ninja (talk) 15:47, 31 January 2023 (UTC)
As someone who kept the obstacle information updated here for over a decade, may I ask is there an appropriate place for it then? In 2015, someone shanked the List of SASUKE Stages article after I had completely rewrote it to organize it and make it look better. Then after I merged it into this article because I thought it would be futile to try creating the article again. Would creating it again after 8 years make sense or am I going to get referenced to SASUKEpedia? Even though a Wikia/Fandom page exists, it doesn't mean it can't exist here. Alpha299 (talk) 01:31, 27 March 2023 (UTC)
- I don't see how obstacle information would have any use in an encyclopedia other than just bloating up the article with fancruft. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 02:02, 27 March 2023 (UTC)
