Ratliff comments
[edit]"But even while praising the album, some critics found elements of fault. Ratliff expresses distaste for the album's "shizy moments, when...[Vaughan] rockets between hoity-toity...and so blues-singer earthy, in certain low-register moments, that she approaches vulgarity".[9]" This is a goofy complaint of a jazz singing record. So Vaughan is either elegant or vulgar? What should she be on this record? I think Ratliff is really looking for something to be at fault and really had to look hard.24.167.105.97 (talk) 23:01, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

Requested move 7 January 2019
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: procedural close, malformed. The proposed target, Sarah Vaughan, is occupied by an article on the singer. Dekimasuよ! 18:06, 7 January 2019 (UTC)
Sarah Vaughan with Clifford Brown → Sarah Vaughan – The article repeats an incorrect statement from AllMusic that the album has been re-titled. Looking at all issues of this album on Discogs.com, you can see that the album is only sometimes referred to as "Sarah Vaughan with Clifford Brown," and even in those cases if you look at the actual album covers you will see that the phrase "with Clifford Brown" is highlighted but it is NOT part of the title of the album. The result of the move request was: move the article to Sarah Vaughan (1954 album) at this time, per the discussion below. Dekimasuよ! 06:23, 12 February 2019 (UTC)
Sarah Vaughan with Clifford Brown → Sarah Vaughan (album) – current title "Sarah Vaughan with Clifford Brown" is incorrect -- that is a common but inaccurate title for the album. I have updated the page itself to explain this. See https://www.discogs.com/master/view/229892 Dekimasu had objected to my initial request to change page name to "Sarah Vaughan" but concurs with my suggestion to change the page name to "Sarah Vaughan (album)" See https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User_talk:Dekimasu Dr.skim (talk) 19:05, 4 February 2019 (UTC)
- Just to be clear, I am not sure which is the title of the album (I haven't looked into it), but the proposed title is certainly available if discussion heads that way. Dekimasuよ! 19:10, 4 February 2019 (UTC)
- Slight problem Sarah Vaughan (1950 album) Columbia CL 6133 doesn't yet have an article, but certainly exists. In ictu oculi (talk) 00:47, 5 February 2019 (UTC)
- Scratch that - highly notable, now has an article. So if moved this would become Sarah Vaughan (1954 album). In ictu oculi (talk) 01:17, 5 February 2019 (UTC)
- Support Sarah Vaughan (1954 album) does appear that the proposal to move is correct. In ictu oculi (talk) 01:30, 5 February 2019 (UTC)
- The (1954 album) solution makes sense -- thanks for catching that. Dr.skim (talk) 04:28, 7 February 2019 (UTC)
- Move to Sarah Vaughan (1954 album). Kudos to all for researching the proper title for this album and determining the best solution in light of the 1950 album. It appears that this move will require over-riding an existing redirect. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (Talk|Contribs) 20:57, 11 February 2019 (UTC)
