The result of the move request was no consensus. —harej (talk) 17:21, 16 August 2009 (UTC)
- Sahagún, Spain → Sahagún — Already a redirect. — Srnec (talk) 05:36, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
- Or move Sahagún (disambiguation) to Sahagún, as Sahagún (disambiguation) lists 8 meanings. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 09:20, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
- Actually, Sahagún should probably be deleted, since there's a Sahagún (disambiguation) page. More properly, Sahagún should probably redirect to the Sahagún (disambiguation) page.
— V = I * R (talk) 10:59, 7 August 2009 (UTC)- Look at incoming links to Sahagún to see what the primary topic is at Wikipedia. Srnec (talk) 22:33, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
- I just reviewed the guideline at WP:DABNAME for another move request. It states: "The title of a disambiguation page is the ambiguous term itself, provided there is no primary topic for that term. If there is a primary topic, then the tag "(disambiguation)" is added to the name of the disambiguation page, as in Jupiter (disambiguation). It is also acceptable to create a page at "Term ABC (disambiguation)" that redirects to a disambiguation page at "Term ABC". This type of redirect can be used to indicate deliberate links to the disambiguation page."
- Since it's not immediately clear to me that this article is "the primary topic" for the name "Sahagún" (what about the Sahagún, Córdoba municipality?), you're probably correct that it needs to be renamed. I don't think that moving it to Sahagún is a solution, though. Looking around at other moderately sized place names (Check through Category:Cities by country), I would think that Sahagún, León would be a more appropriate title. Wikipedia:PLACE#Disambiguation seems to support this, as well.
- Sahagún (disambiguation) should redirect to Sahagún, which should be the DAB page, unless and until someone can make it clear that the name "Sahagún" is highly connected with this town.
— V = I * R (talk) 09:39, 8 August 2009 (UTC)- Almost all the incoming links to Sahagún are looking for the Spanish city. It is the primary topic, for its historical importance. Srnec (talk) 18:06, 8 August 2009 (UTC)
- The fact that incoming links don't need to be disambiguated isn't an endorsement of the current title, it's an artifact from the high level of maintenance which Wikipedia receives. Additionally, Wikipedia is not itself a reliable source, so based on both points even if every link without exception pointed to Sahagún, that wouldn't support a change in and of itself (see WP:PRIMARY for further amplification). If a WP:COMMONNAME is available, then that should be established through references so that it can be verified. I also don't see any obvious "historical importance" associated with the town. I'm still left with the opinion that Sahagún, León would be the more appropriate title, and that Sahagún (disambiguation) should me moved to Sahagún.

- "Roughly similar in nature is Las crónicas anónimas de Sahagún, an account of the fortunes and misfortunes of the most important royal abbey of León-Castilla from the beginning of Urraca's reign until 1117. Although its interest also is something else than the history of the reign as such, Sahagún was so central to the realm and its dynasty that again it supplies invaluable if erratic information."
